3 weeks on the road, what i've learned so far

Good observations. These are things us planners can keep in mind. Thanks!

Found out the hard way I don't like towing trailers.

The good news is that the trailer was borrowed and you didn't invest a lot of your money and time into a set up that won't work for you.

    BEANS..BEANS..THE MUSICAL FRUIT!

I like to mix black beans with rice, etc, for a Chipotle inspired burrito bowl. I make it with everything I would get if I were at Chipotle. It is just as good and a fraction of the cost. Don't forget good old fashioned beans and cornbread or calico beans. Both are easy if you have a crock...

    Reformed spender

We have the same observation: when I was a boss, I went to work and collected my paycheck. Now that I'm semi-retired and working part-time jobs, I have found that the lower the pay, the harder I have to work! Trying to make a living is a real eye opener. Anyway, good to hear from you and I'm...

Class A RV makes no $$ sense

I think it depends on the individual. If a Class A motorhome is what will get you out there traveling more or living a freer life on the road, go for it. Many purchases do not make $$ sense, but we all make them anyway. To each his (or her!) own, in my opinion.

    I'm (almost) officially a (step)vandweller again!!

Wow--look at all of that space. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Congratulations!

A bedroom in a (unused) sewer pipe.

It's not often I see "bedroom" and "sewer pipe" in the same sentence, so I had to look. Now that's creative repurposing!

Starting my van dwelling experience in Oakland, California.

Hello and welcome. That's great to hear you have so much support from people you've told about your plans. I'm a long ways from California, but if you make it to central Ohio, let me know. Have fun!!

    Finally.....got my van home!

I'm very happy for you, but darn it, now I have that Patti LaBelle song stuck in my mind..."I'm feeling good from my head to my shoes. Know where I'm going and I know what to do. I tidied up my point of view. I got a new attitude!" Must be an 80s thing...sorry.

    SEAT BELTS

Don't know how legal this was, but we took a family outing in a Class A motorhome and had two on the couch without seatbelts. The couch had seatbelts, but the previous owner pushed them under the seat as it was not comfortable sitting on them. We also had one laying down on the rear bed, again...

    Delayed Intro From Idaho

Hello and welcome from central Ohio! I smiled when I read your "nasty restroom" encounter. I have a porta potty instead of the bucket, but definitely can relate to how important it is to have a clean, reliable arrangement.

    Home for a while

All right! I loved the RV Park I spent a summer in. You got a nice price, too. Mine was over $500.00 each month, and no, it was not a resort. I'll make sure to check out your blog.

A complete guide to RV Camping in State Parks

I laughed when I read, "...alcohol is not allowed." Now I don't want to speak poorly about Ohio State Parks or the people that camp here, but alcohol is on almost every site. Most campers keep it on their site and stay reasonably quiet, but many many many times they are rowdy late into the...

Hello from central Ohio! Wow, with all of your cool experiences, I can't wait to read more!

Heading Home Tomorrow after 5 Months

After six months in a 26' Class C, I moved back into a sticks-and-bricks. The biggest adjustment was getting used to all of the excess space! It just seemed so wasteful, and still does. As for me, I absolutely would do it again. In fact, that is my plan. Keep us posted on your...

    Don't pay the ransom!

You made it out of Ohio and on with your dream life! There's hope for me! Safe travels! :)
