my current plan is a self inflating pad, actually a little too long for me (77", i think), with a little foam insulation built in......it's a thicker pad, prob for car camping..not at all sure how it will work or how comfortable. planned to supplement it with a BIG phat old polyester sleeping...

ty, jonyjoe... i haven't noticed what you've done quite anywhere else.  it's interesting.. can i ask --- where do you go where you need so much insulation? the cold temperatures you show were only about 40F --- bay area weather! the hot - was 148F, which i assume was in the sun or something, but...

i'm tempted to say i can do this......... bob recommended xps (extruded polystyrene) because it bends..... 1/2" thick... does polyiso bend also? we have a stay in place order here... not sure i can run to home depot .... altho it is open, i assume.  between xps and polyiso -- neither of which...

jonyjoe, did you insulate all the walls and ceiling, and about how long did it take and how many sheets?  i'm assuming it's quieter, such as if you're at a truck stop overnight... i'm wondering if sleeping bags (polyester, etc) would be much easier to stick up..  does the insulation help much in...

so ------- say i don't insulate the van... that leaves the option of insulate later. i also just rewatched bob wells' video (2017, i think) in which he only insulates the walls with polyiso... not the ceiling or floor...so that's literally half insulated... i'm SORT of used to little or no...

i've watched probably all the videos.... they're great... so you're saying condensation on the inside walls of the van, i assume, when it's cold outside... so gluing foam on the van walls is better? i'd think there would still be condensation, maybe less, maybe much less, but it'd be impossible...

can anyone comment on my main concern about lithium batteries (which afaict cost about $1000 for 100ah) ---------------- i'd be worried about them getting stolen......... the battery would be about the most expensive thing in my van. and i don't know how one would explain it if they were insured...

@maki2... i rechecked my caffeine amount ... i eat 80% to 88% dark chocolate in the am, about 1.1 oz... which is maybe 25 to 40mg caffeine daily. coffee, 8oz, is 100mg to 200mg... i don't take in any other caffeine.. i may have to recheck my chocolate intake, as the caffeine is a little higher...

we'll see.... a few different opinions are offered on this subject. i'm just trying to be open about it, without being too much of a downer. i guess i'm trying to speak, a little, for others who might not.

@crofter - yeah, anxiety and depression... i've got to be comfortable and feel safe in the van... i'm thinking of a fleet vehicle, the basic cargo van. i'd like windows, but the anxiety of having them, and the security issue makes them probably out of the question. i'd like to stealth in urban...
