Speaker Wires+Heat Shrink Tubing as Solar Wires?

i don't know, as i'm a newbie at this solar stuff also. but sunlight resistant does not sound acceptable. it's designed for underground use, and low energy. a solar panel is not low energy, afaik. i tend to think it would be a disaster, actually. maybe someone else can weigh in.  i think i'd go...

    cooling layer for my bed??

it seems ok... the thermarests are beneath my latex topper. actually, it seems perfectly fine! i spent my first night on it. i've never slept on latex before, and not much on foam either. i'm really particular, but the latex is pretty good. it wasn't hot either, but it's still spring in...

    cooling layer for my bed??

i've never had a mattress topper before. but my current plan is a combination of the 3" of latex topper, then one or two self inflating thermarests... one of them, 3"...  i'll check on a simple mattress pad... good idea....

    cooling layer for my bed??

decided on latex topper.... 3". i tried an egg crate, but it seemed hot and not very comfortable, though light. latex felt good, not too hot, at least in the store. it'll go on top of my two thermarests, or something like that. i felt i needed a top layer that was soft to support the contours...

Speaker Wires+Heat Shrink Tubing as Solar Wires?

i'd maybe do it myself, but i have a portable solar panel. for something permanet on the roof - i wouldn't. that seems dangerous, once that insulation gets fried, i'd figure my electronics can get wipred out...

Tips for cargo van door locks

i'm going to try this on my cargo van. within a few months my van has : been hit and run, $9000 worth of damage. then someone stole the catalytic, and tried to hot wire it, $5000? i'm not sure, as i pay a $1000 deductible.  my insurance guy said everyone is busting into cargo vans. reason...

    cooling layer for my bed??

so - it sounds like you've combined various foams, like i've combined various thermarests, etc, and you're comfortable? and i wondered how long you've had your latex?  and i'm older (65) and kind of stiff --- wondering if you are older also, or young and able to do cartwheels..... tysm, and...

    cooling layer for my bed??

i thought about my post, and maybe the synthetic duvet is not a good 'soft' layer. i sink into it, and it probably traps moisture due to that. it's also too thin and/or too soft. open to suggestions... i'm thinking of just standard foam... 1 to 2"... which would be on top of my other...

    cooling layer for my bed??

i'm trying to get a bed together. currently it's: from bottom to top: thick, old sleeping bag, thermarest 1 1/4", thermarest car camping pad 3", a synthetic duvet, doubled over, this is a layer for softness, sheet, me, down comforter. the synthetic duvet is for comfort, but it's kind of hot and...

    cameras, motion detectors, break ins

i'm probably incredibly naive and asking for the impossible............ altho the wansview camera gets 84% reviews of 5 or 4 stars on amazon... i don't have much patience for pairing things, such as cameras, that don't feel like pairing, tho. well, appreciate any input! stay safe

    cameras, motion detectors, break ins

looking for info on - as i said -- cameras, such as this cheap one... which looks like it communicates with a phone? is that via wifi? the price is cheap, but i don't really understand these new cameras, security systems, etc...

    cameras, motion detectors, break ins

my 2019 chevy van just got broken into. the moron mucked up the lock and steering column because he (sorry guys, it had to be a guy, lol) was too stupid to no he couldn't steal it... maybe i need a sign "must pass this iq test to be able to steal this van... question 1) how far in solar units is...

I came up with a great idea for a van heater...a food dehydrator!

the mr buddy, the standard little one, simply puts out too much heat, so bob wells says you're constantly turning it on and off all the time. sounds like a nuisance.

    insurance for cargo van...california

progressive obviously doesn't want cooking, pooing, kitchening, heating,,, fridging... being done in what they are insuring --- which is a conversion van... so no one is concerned that when a liability claim comes up ---- say an expensive thousands upon thousands of dollars one --- that they'll...

    insurance for cargo van...california

yes, i would think it depends on the state. i don't understand why, if you check conversion package, that it can't have cooking facilities, etc ------------ isn't all that the very definition of a conversion package?? and if you have some of those systems, but answer no i don't, and one day the...

    insurance for cargo van...california

true, the stuff is removable... if you design it that way... insulation... another story.. i guess one could say they just wanted it insulated... but in my example, you get in a wreck, your van is in the shop with all the gear, solar, everything......... why take a chance on what the insurance...

    insurance for cargo van...california

i actually do not think i'm over thinking this.... so - say i get in an accident. there's my cargo van, with a bed, bed frame, fridge, solar, insulation, computer, a lot of water......stove.... lighting.... which will all be visible to my insurance company, once they haul my van to some body...

    insurance for cargo van...california

ty for the replies... this IS california... it would be nice to have the contents insured... it's mainly for when i'm in a city or at a trail head... there's a fair amount of break ins at those places. it would be peace of mind to not have to worry about being ripped off. otherwise, i'd have to...

    insurance for cargo van...california

sorry, i should have been clearer... a simple build, but with portable solar, a lithium battery, fishing equipment, a 12v fridge.... i don't figure i could file a claim if someone broke in and stole - say all of that, which is worth about $2500. i'm guessing my insurance company would not pay...

    insurance for cargo van...california

is it possible for a really cheap build? i've left a couple messages at two places (specialize in vans, rv's) around the bay area saying i want to get insurance for a van that i'll occasionally sleep in, etc... no return call. i'm wondering if this is a dead end road. i assume other states are...
