    Dog or no dog?

I have a 1.5 year old border collie. I was surprised by the challenges of raising a young dog on the road. No regular classes to attend, constant new/ stimulating environments, small indoor space to train, no consistent dog friends to learn how to share with, no “ low stimuli” (like noise)...

    Going to Alaska in 2022???

I’m here now! Boondocking near Fairbanks on the Chena River and heading to Denali next week. The drive up was beautiful- crossed in Portal North Dakota and went through Banff/ Jasper and up the Alaska highway to Tok. Cell coverage in Canada was very limited. So far, cell coverage in Alaska it’s...

Best way to check forecast of a large area

What’s your go-to source to look at larger weather patterns/ possible weather issues in areas you’re traveling to? I can’t find radar that really predicts weather and warns of potential issues (like tornadoes). I use a variety of sources (weather bug, weather fit com, weather underground…) to...

    Going to Alaska in 2022???

Oof- I guess I'll have to drive to cell service at least 1x a day. Not my favorite option, but I really want to visit Alaska and not working at all isn't an option for me. I'm waiting for Starlink to go mobile so I can go get lost in the forest and not have to worry so much about cell coverage!

    Going to Alaska in 2022???

I’m planning on heading that way in June. I’ve never been- I’d take suggestions on places to boondock/ cheap camping if anyone has them. I’m in a “vintage” 24’ class A, so dirt roads are fine but nothing too “off road”. My one concern is cell cover. I work from the road. I can probably get by...

How much does RV size (length) really matter?

We've been full time for a little over 4 months and are IN LOVE with our 24' Safari Trek, Glinda!!! We've traveled over 3500 miles from WA to South Florida. Glinda is only a 4 cylinder diesel, so she's not fast, especially going up hill. I've been slightly jealous of the vans zipping by us on...

Got a cargo to convert- where to go now?

Also, you could consider one of those pop-up screen rooms and even sleeping outside in the screened room if you want to try boondocking or a non-hookup campground. Most of the campgrounds that have hookups are too crowded for me- they're also more expensive and harder to get reservations...

Got a cargo to convert- where to go now?

I find that state park campgrounds are usually more spread out than private campgrounds and often have hookups. N Florida, Georgia and Tennessee have some nice SP campgrounds. I’m currently in S Florida and haven’t used the AC at all, but I have lots of windows (small class A). Bahia Honda and...

    Super Newbies looking for help

“I’m not lost I’m RVing” has a lot of good solar videos and one of the first in the series walks you through an energy audit to see what you need. I’d recommend checking that out if you’re interested in solar.

    Super Newbies looking for help

Absolute must haves are a fresh water hose, black/ gray hose, surge protector and 15/30/50 amp power adapters. Probably some blocks for the tires too. If you go to an RV store, they’ll give you a list. Solar is great, but more expensive/ complicated for an RV (vs a van). You could start by just...

Where do you shower (when you don't have a shower in your van)?

I make a bath spray alternative to baby wipes. In a 16oz spray bottle: 1 tsp liquid soap (can use body wash. I’m currently using biodegradable Jason brand coconut body wash) 4 Tbsp witch hazel 2 Tbsp hydrogen peroxide 3-5 ish drops essential oil of your choice Enough water to fill remainder...

Looking for a comprehensive solar power resource guide

I’m Not Lost I’m RVing has a YouTube series that explains the basics as well as a bunch of info in their site. I found their info most helpful. https://www.imnotlostimrving.com/rv-solar/ I purchased a solar kit from Continuous Resources in Utah and installed it myself (with their approval) in...

How much does RV size (length) really matter?

Update: I'm in LOVE! Glinda (our Trek) is WONDERFUL! We've got most of the interior refresh done. We pulled out the old carpet and put in laminate flooring and a tad of new carpet under the dash. We did peel and stick tile in the kitchen, painted the walls, got new blinds and painted the kitchen...

How much does RV size (length) really matter?

Here's the interior! I'm working on a little "refresh"- removing the old carpet and making covers for the sofa and chairs. She has one little solar panel- more solar is in my near future! I love this motorhome- I can't wait to move in!!!

How much does RV size (length) really matter?

Just pulled the trigger on a 24’ Safari Trek with a drop down bed!!! Short, yet roomy!

How much does RV size (length) really matter?

Thanks all! I really appreciate your responses. It sounds like getting the shortest rig I feel comfortable in is the way to go. Thinking about more outdoor living/ working options is a good reminder too. Being in cold and rainy WA, it’s easy to forget that we’ll be in warmer places gat are more...

    Thoughts on Holiday Rambler

Thank you all for your input! We're holding off for the moment- the rig is far away (we'd have to fly to see it) so we'll keep an eye out for a similar one that's closer for now. Thanks!!

How much does RV size (length) really matter?

My partner and I have been looking at RVs for a couple of years and plan to shove off for full time living in September-ish. We’ve imagined a host of scenarios (and even almost bought a 5th wheel)- we’re currently leaning toward a 25-28 foot class C or A. We’ll be living and remote working in...

    Thoughts on Holiday Rambler

Hi all- I’m looking at a 2003 Holiday Rambler Traveler 28RB. I like the layout, but I can’t find any reviews on the model that talk about quality/ issues. Any thoughts? I will full time/ boondock. Thanks!!!
