Hey GypsyJane. I was just there saturday. A million people but worth the hike. I just blasted through Balsam and on the way to Cherokee for some rafting. If your schedule allows you might like Big Bradley falls near Saluda. Its a good hike in without the climbing like Chimney. Enjoy.

Just left Boone/ Banner Elk last week. Really nice but a bit crowded right now. Went down to Spruce Pine and started the BRP just below that. Still driving on it and I am finding more beautiful waterfalls, lakes, hiking and river rafting than I can do. Love this State!

Reno, Lol, Noted! And probably don't wanna know right? The traffic is a crawl most of the time. Summer break, every one from Florida, and tons of tourists. Kinda just get in the flow, pick some music and look for the next fun place to stop. Thanks for the suggestion about Mayberry, sounds fun. ...
