    E250 build

Edit: Almost forgot the most important thing to come, the bed! I'm looking around for someone to make four long foam sections that can either lay down as a bed, or be used as two couches. Trying to get prices now, then they will have to be covered. Also looking at using some sort of...

    E250 build

Thanks all, it's almost complete, though the to do list doesn't seem to get any smaller; Internal - Paint internal walls (or put up carpet / laminate etc) - Buy a small bowl (8 inches or less) and a tap with hand pump or 12v pump. - Trim drawers again for a better fit. - Put up netting to...

    E250 build

Thanks speedhighway, right now they are very bright. They are plugged in to the 110v so I'm hoping I can install a dimmer somehow. It's going surprisingly well! the nail is gone, but you can't see the bone so that's a win!

I put the lightbox up, still a bit of work to go to finish it all off, install a light above the bed / table and some more trims to be installed. Brad, here's a snapshot of the lights: This video shows it better, not all that impressive during the day but at night they are great! lights

    E250 build

Hey all, Well I've been travelling around the States, trying to work on the van as I go. Things move a lot slower when you're trying to build a van at a campsite in the Rockies! I WAS taking pics as I went a long, but somehow deleted them. Oh well. Here's an update. I'll be putting more pics...

    Recommend an MPPT?

Hey Jim  I'd love the help searching the but I just ordered a 200 watt kit off amazon  at $360 with tax and postage it's well over what a more savvy person could have built the system for, but I really need this installed. Once it's on the van I'll forget about the cost anyway

    Recommend an MPPT?

This is exactly what I'm trying to do right now (on my phone).  - I've found the $100 MPPT (linked above), - a $170 panel with 230 watts I'm finding hard to locate? - the mounting brackets can be bought for $15 - cables / connectors - these have me stumped.  If I could find the above items I...

    Recommend an MPPT?

Thanks for the replies everyone,  So there seems to be two options ways to go, pwm with 12v panel or the MPPT with a higher voltage panel. This is what I've come up with: 1. $100 MPPT  MPPT Tracer2210RN Solar Charge Controller Regulator 12/24V INPUT 20A...

    Recommend an MPPT?

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the replies. With such a short time frame it makes it very hard to get any research in. I was looking at buying a second hand panel, so shying away from the 12v panels as I'm struggling to find them at a reasonable cost. MPPT and 210 watt panel above is...

    Recommend an MPPT?

Hey all, I've done a quick search but I haven't come up with much. I need to order an MPPT tomorrow morning to have it delivered while I'm staying at a friends.  I'm looking at this solar panel: -Will this work with a 27V/210W Polysilicon panel.  I'm trying to find a reasonably priced MPPT to...

    What's in your kitchen?

Wow. We are really focusing on the toast here. I didn't realise just how important toast was to the RV community!

    What's in your kitchen?

Fantastic suggestions, thanks everyone! I'm putting together a list of suggestions for when the time comes, and I can honestly say the toaster is covered. Any other appliances (even ones that don't toast bread) are more than welcome. :D

    E250 build

Day 10. So I had to get out of LA, one month there searching for a van and then starting to build, I want to see more of this amazing country. So I headed north towards Big Sur with the idea of driving till two pm then working in the evenings. Well, it's a lot harder. I don't have anywhere...

    What's in your kitchen?

Hey all,  I'm putting together a van conversion and as part of the electrical system I bought a 600w PSW inverter. Now I realise that may be very small to power any kitchen appliances. Having a gas stove is all well and good, but some morning you just want a slice of toast right?  Can you...

    E250 build

Start of Day 8 ( I think) I pulled down the shelves on the right hadn side, painted them and reinstalled them. Not too happy about the white paint, it gets dirty VERY quickly so I may paint them again, this time in situ. But that's no big issue. I ran cables for the electrical side of...

    E250 build

Thanks drysailor! I'll check out a few marine shops once the electrical systems are in place. Speaking of which, although Sternwake has given me priceless advice ite still very overwhelming. Not just the larger components (I've bought most), but wife sizes, how to run said wires, how to connect...

    E250 build

Day 5 Late start today, got out to Home Depot (for the first of 4 visits by midday). Those places are so understaffed, it's amazing really. Didn't get a whole lot done today. Plenty of measuring and remeasuring. I installed 80% of the shelving to the van, but to properly fix it I had two...

    E250 build

Hey all, well it's been two days and the build is moving on. Floor installed - 1/2 ply, and the 1/4 inch lauan plywood has been fixed to the walls with a flexible adhesive and a few screws where they should be concealed.  And it's up: Day 4: Starting on the couches / beds. 3 x 2 (which...

    E250 build

Thanks Writer, not too sure at the moment. I'd like to see as much as I can from Yellowstone NP to the west. I stupidly didn't apply for the 6 month visa so I have to be out by July the 15th, either Canada (and hope I can get another visa / visa waiver to come back in, or Mexico to head south...

Hey all, A bit of background - Steve here, an Australian come to LA to buy and build a van with the intention of taking it south. How far south is yet to be determined. Central America possibly, Chile maybe. I'll be joined by my girlfriend in the coming months so this little beast of burden...
