    Thoughts on this van?

In my area 1998-1999 conversion vans sell for around 5k. So that price is way off. I found some with around 80k miles for 4,5k and in good condition, one owner. I would consider a conversion van, also because they are more homey. It might sound silly, but the interior of a car doesn't seem so...

Can a Ford F-150 handle a truck camper?

Now I know why trucks are so expensive here. The prices where much higher for f-250 or f-350, too when we bought our truck. Probably everybody knows that 150s are not so good at towing or hauling.

The dream that refuse to die

Thank you! I like the aliveness of this forum, it's great. Cyndi, we had so many discussions and so many trips. They like the trips, but not as a lifestyle, even if we had great times exploring different cities (in Europe and US), castles, forests, rivers, mountains, you name it... They believe...

How many miles are too much?

I read about the magical year, that it's better to be 1996 or newer.  So it's like a win-lose situation w/ older cars. Will have to give it some serious thought.

Can a Ford F-150 handle a truck camper?

The BelAir shell is really neat and the price is good. A folding Tonneau cover is 1k new so 2k for a cabover shell is OK. I tested the army cots don't fit in the truck's bed w/ the tailgate closed so I would need to build some storage/ bed unit. I'm not handy w/ the saw and drill, but could work...

Can a Ford F-150 handle a truck camper?

We tried a 27 ft TT but I can't go by myself driving such a long rig for longer trips. And the hitch, towing bars, leveling jacks, wheels bearings... are a pain in the neck. I can drive the truck, not my favorite car but it's the max I would go, sizewise. The campers I could find now are...

How many miles are too much?

:D I never tried. My 10 yr old can fit and I'm rather small. And yes, I've seen campers shells w/ front windows. Will have to give it more thought, it's the cheapest way, after all. The truck gets ~15mpg and some of the older vans get 10-12mpg so it would be more fuel efficient.  In the same...

Can a Ford F-150 handle a truck camper?

I've been reading a lot about living on the road and I have so many questions to ask. I tried some RV forums but they are more about comfort and size, not about mpg, maneuverability, parking anywhere, etc. I would love to own and travel in a van, but I took into account the fact that we already...

How many miles are too much?

Thanks for the advice. I think that Chevy is not a good pretender.... I need a reality check because I released that so many vlogs and posts portray the van life like a series of sunshine and butterflies.I love the idea of a van but maybe saving some more money would be better. We have a pretty...

The dream that refuse to die

I contemplate the nomad life since I was a teenager, I guess... After moving from Europe to US, I found so many people w/ the same desire to travel and move around, that made me realize I'm not mad.  :D I can't "afford" to live the dream of being nomadic, because I have a family and they don't...

How many miles are too much?

I'm contemplating buying a van for trips around the country. I can't afford something expensive so around 2k-3k would be the budget.  I'm kind of scared of older rigs because I never owned one from the '90. How many miles should it have to be in a good condition and still get more out of it? I...
