Caution. Vehicle Battery/Charging Incompatible with House Battery.

Did you have an isolater? Or just connect the solar straight to the vehicle charging system?

    Cargo 6 x 12 or 14?

I'm actually pretty settled on a 6x12. If I do anything different it would likely be to go with a 6x10. I'm much more concerned with the towing, transmission, mountains, off-road, boondocking, etc. I can definitely live well enough between either the van + 6x12 or van + 6x10. Wondering how much...

    Cargo 6 x 12 or 14?

Yeah, I've pretty much tossed out the idea of aluminum simply because of the added cost...availability doesn't seem great either. "I'm already wondering about the width and height of a 6x12x 6'-6.5"." What I was getting at was about the wind drag and it's effects on handling and mpg being...

    Cargo 6 x 12 or 14?

Good point, but 1 of the main reasons that I will probably go for a new trailer ordered by me is: options. I want the straight (no drop) 5200lbs leaf spring axle with brakes. If I can't get the 5200, then I'll have to settle for the 3500. I'd also like to do OC 16" floor, walls and ceiling...

    Which panels and charge controller?

Don't worry...I read it. I also went back and read their FAQs, and checked a number of sources for cost on what all I would need (not panels or batteries, etc)...came up with +/- $350 shipped.

    Cargo 6 x 12 or 14?

Understood, and fortunately, I wasn't looking forward to the 14'...mainly just checking options.  Glad ArtW got me up to find out what it actually is...I was assuming also that it was the 3.73. Van payload capacity is: 1507-1667 depending on source Towing capacity is: 5000-5300 depending on...

    Cargo 6 x 12 or 14?

Yep, Vortec 4.3L 190hp. Considered dual axle for a number of reasons, but I think I'll go with the weight and cost savings of the single. I'd prefer dual, but this just isn't the right situation. It has a GU6 code on the passenger door, so that indicates it has a 3.42 axle ratio. I had trouble...

    Serenity

Yep, I'll be buying a cargo trailer in the not-so-distant-future. 1 of the things that I have been trying to get a grip on is what are good brands and/or places to buy from...guess I can scratch Cargomate off the list.

    Cargo 6 x 12 or 14?

Uhmmmm, actually I was just reading your thread on that trailer, but decided to see if I had any responses here,...so I think I'll pass. Appreciate the offer though! :P Solo. I'm thinking the 12' will be the right fit, and much easier to buy new or used, but I'm hoping to gain some insight as...

    Cargo 6 x 12 or 14?

Will be towing with a 2000 Astro AWD with towing/hauling. Will be adding a heavy-duty trans cooler. Trailer will be 6'-6'6" interior height. Single axle. 6 x 12's are a dime-a-dozen, so not sure if I will be buying new, but I have my eyes open for something used. I was going to go 6' x 10'...

    Which panels and charge controller?

Ok, at this point I'm not sure which route I am going to take, but seems most everything I'm looking at (PWM or MPPT) is in the $300 range after display and temp sensor. Right now, I am leaning toward either the  Blue Sky Energy SB3000i (MPPT) or the Bogart's trimetric (PWM). Any thoughts on why...

    Need help with organization/research

Currently, I am mostly using Favorites/Bookmarks. I know how to copy them into a new browser install (and back them up), so changing PCs isn't an issue for me. Otherwise, I use folders within folders. Examples: Vanlife-Youtube = Links to Youtube providers such as Bob, Jamie, etc...

    Cold feet...

Thanks everybody. A lot of good input here. I should be able to get it sorted out now. I'm just not all that familiar with cold weather gear, and the cold feet thing is an issue for me!

    Cold feet...

Just wondering how ya'll deal with keeping your feets warm(er) during the colder times...? I learned years ago for myself, that if I let my feet get too cold for too long...I get sick. Apparently my immune system drops enough to make me more susceptible to viruses, etc. If I follow the simple...

    Recommendations for folding bed sectional?

Hey Bob, I'm wondering how long the Thermarest sleeping pads are lasting for you? I just bookmarked this...based on the reviews: Milliard Tri-Fold Foam Folding Mattress and Sofa Bed for Guests or Floor Mat Same concept, but more and overall better reviews. Thanks for the pointer though!

    Which panels and charge controller?

Ok, so with the controller that Bob recommended Blue Sky Energy SB3000i. It's about $300 with a temp sensor, so are the better options out there? Here's the PDF: Blue Sky Energy SB3000i It has an "Equalization" function/feature....and is I think what Bob was getting at earlier: "EQUALIZATION...

    Which panels and charge controller?

Right now, I am planning on a battery isolater and a generator (gotta vitamix I use). So, IF I undertand correctly: If I never go below 80%...then MPPT is meaningless? If I do go below 80%on the battery bank...then I can boost to the 80% with the solar and alternator and/or generator, right...

    Which panels and charge controller?

And that is where a 14 x 14" hole will be cut. The more I'm finding about Everbright panels and company...the more comfortable I am getting with them. They apparently have Made in the USA panels: These panels are made from solar cells made in Oregon, and the solar panel assembly was done in...

    Which panels and charge controller?

"I'd strongly recommend the Blue Sky 3000i. You can set the absorption voltage up to 15 volts and then set how long it holds it there. " Ok, after reading Sternwake's info-sharing in the thread here: EU2000i to charge batteries? I'm beginning to understand what you are getting at. Is the...
