    Food and Wine Magazine

I don't do wine. All I can taste is sour grapes and alcohol, no matter how "good" the wine is supposed to be. It probably has to do with the fact that I have almost no sense of smell.

    otrman introduction

Hang in there, Driver! I'm ready to see what's down all those no truck routes, myself! Always wanted to see what's on the Natchez Trace Parkway, now I'm going to!

You're in or near Springfield? I'll be coming through that area next month on my way to see some family in Poplar Bluff. We should have coffee!

This was the best I could do. Not a book, though. https://www.stanleytools.com/support/catalogs/login

    Non-foam Mattress Suggestions?

I know this is an old thread but hopefully you'll get this. Have you looked into rice hulls? Where I was living in southeast Missouri there are a lot of rice farmers and rice hulls are free for the most part.

I just ordered mine this evening. I still have a 2007 edition of the Motor Carriers from my trucking days but I'd noticed that I was having a hard time seeing the smaller roads. Besides, there's bound to have been changes to some roads since I left the road. Getting old person eyes, need large...

    It's Happening!

Yeah, I did. Gear box, idler arm, tie rod and ends, pitman arm and alignment. I knew it had a problem but the problem turned out to be bigger than I thought. But, I'm looking at the repair costs as an investment in my home; no different than having the foundation of a house straightened out. It...

    It's Happening!

Unfortunately the steering problem is such that I can't get it anywhere to get  more opinions and fits what I suspected the problem was, just a little worse than I expected. I trust the shop I took it to, mostly because it's woman owned and has great reviews online. I am 1600 miles from NC but I...

    It's Happening!

Ugh. Just got a call from the shop... It's worse than I expected, even taking into account the age of the van. Just getting the steering fixed is gonna be $1300.  :( I've found a name for my van; The Money Pit. Luckily the engine problems are such that I think I can get it to my...

Should You Tell Your Family & Friends?

Most of my family has had a bad case of wanderlust forever. Those who didn't learned a long time ago to accept those of us who did. No condemnation from anyone, so far. Even the man I sold my car to didn't bat an eye when I told him where the money was going to go. Not that I give a rat's a$$...

    My Floor Plans

It's a quote by Maya Menedez. I wish I had come up with it myself.  ;)  I came across it on Facebook today. Feel free to use it.  :)

That would be about what I would end up doing, getting water close to where I want to camp and then going in. I don't know how comfortable I'd be using water that had been in the bag for very long.

    My Floor Plans

I decided on 24" wide by measuring my computer chair seat. It's right at 20" and I sit comfortably in it. I gave myself another 4" thinking I can sit on my (plastic bucket and toilet seat) toilet and have enough room to reach all the parts that need reaching. I am thinking that the part I show...

    My Floor Plans

The thing about the water bladder is it is the length and width of a wheelbarrow  so the weight is spread out pretty well. In the 5 gal fuel cans the weight is concentrated in a fairly small amount of space thereby applying more pressure per square inch. I'm fairly confident that a rack with...

    My Floor Plans

As a truck driver we were taught to keep the axles under the weight, which is why the batteries are going where I mentioned. As close to the rear axle as I could get it and still have some room to move around a bit. I thought about the weight distribution being uneven but the storage under the...

    My Floor Plans

That's the thought. Still a maybe but I am hoping to find a way to carry water without having to physically carry water.  ;)

    An interesting shower option

I'd seen Rocket Heaters but they were always built into some mass to heat cob homes. This is a cool idea for hot water instead of an on demand system that requires gas or electric. Good to keep in mind for when I give up traveling and build my tiny cob house but looks rather bulky for van dwelling.
