    Looking for advice

You are a wise lady! The excitement of getting that new vehicle often overrides that little voice telling you how to proceed. Something tells me you are going to find the perfect rig and get the perfect deal...

    2 million dollars????

$50K per year. Sheesh. If I had that coming in I would be living good and BUILDING a terrific nest egg.

    Belated Intro

Welcome! Glad you joined in. Astronomy - Cool - wish I knew more. Tells us about your trailer. 10' sounds neat. I am a bit of a rescue pup myself. Just started my 62nd year and still working on my quirks!! Keep in touch and don't be a stranger (anymore!)

We could have cheap housing, but society doesn't want you to have it!

It's not that the town does not like the look of the mobile homes, its' that the parks get so trashy. Drive through a MH community and take a look. It's not the MHs that looks so bad. I've seen some very nice MH parks where the management enforces aesthetics rules. For some reason...

Share what you do for $$

What happened to your food cart? I always thought that was kinda neat.

    CHILDREN!!! AARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

Love my girls. The hardest and the best thing I ever learned was the word "No". Now they stand on their own and I am proud. Tough to do - Yup. Glad I did it - Yup. I know that you know the "should" of this situation. You will be doing them and yourself a great favor by learning how to say "No"

Intro and what an RV will mean to me

Congrats Ryannis! Looks like a fine rig. One item I did not see mentioned. Do you know how old the tires are? Even tho they may look fine, the standard practice is they are aged out at 7 years. If they are old, I would be a bit concerned about driving it at the posted limits. Would hate...

    Thruhiker with van dwelling aspirations

After rereading my post I realized a bit of a conflict with the above statement and then suggesting to postpone your van. My thought is that if you do spend a couple years doing virtually nothing but working, the convenience of the full facilities in an apartment would make it much more...

    Thruhiker with van dwelling aspirations

X2 on this. Even if you simplify to a van, you can still be strangled with debt. Is there anyway you could downsize to a smaller apartment/house and spend a couple years concentrating on getting out of debt? If you pick up another (or two) part time jobs, you will be spending so much time...

Replacing Tires: Plenty of Tread but Weather Checked?

This is a frequent topic on some other RV related forums. RVs are typically quite a bit heavier than vans. The prevalent thought there is to replace at 7 years no matter what. I think 5 years is too early. Just my opinion and experience.

    Choosing A Vehicle

Take a look at Casita trailers or other 'fiberglass eggs'. They are not a whole lot different from a custom sleeper on your OTR truck. They are also light weight so they can, and often are, pulled by midrange cars and trucks.

    Workamping Sites?

I recommend Workamper News. (workamper.com) They are one of, if not THE, main source for work camping type jobs. They have a print as well as an online subscription. I had a membership for a couple years and was pretty impressed with them. I met their reps and actually was interviewed and...

There is a group of single RVers called "WINS" for Wandering Individuals Network (https://rvsingles.org/). I have been following a member's blog for years. They sure have a lot of fun.

Seriously considering leaving before things get worse, not sure how to hide plans

Your situation is not encouraging at all, but if you think things are tough now, wait until you bail out into a van and hit the streets. You ain't seen anything yet. Bindi talked about the military. I always propose the military for young folks in your situation - why? Because I was EXACTLY...

Weak and tired by midday now that I sleep in the van

How has your diet changed? Carbohydrates = sugar. Sugar highs are followed by lows that leave you lethargic. If you are eating a lot of carbs, try cutting back and adding more meat or fat. Fat is more time released energy. If you cannot sleep - spend some of the wake time researching all...

    New user

Welcome. Sorry to hear of your travails. Things WILL get better. Being an RN, have you checked into Travel Nursing? Agencies are always looking for new blood. They will place you all over the country and provide a stipend if you provide your own housing. Google "travel nursing" and you...

    address - still concerned...

Texas, Florida and South Dakota are the main players for full-time rvers. We use SD for all our legal issues (see my previous post). I would suggest you call the SD SS office in Pierre and get the specific answers to your questions. This sounds like a complex issue and, no disrespect to...

    Moving everything into the RV

Sorry for your frustration, Jean. I am a bit confused tho. I thought you were selling your house? Did you decide to keep it and have a renter/caretaker instead? Is the failed deal prohibiting your breakaway? Also, just because you signed a deal with the realtor, my understanding is that...
