Should have waited another month

Me think that if you installed an MPPT controller you will pick up power regardless of the weather. That's what I do.

Life has Forced us to change OUR plans :-(

Hang in there Brian. Life indeed is filled with valuable lessons some pleasant and others not so. It is up to us to have the awareness absorbing them and do our best bringing up to the surface the positive aspects and at the same time share those with others as you did. We so easily lose sight...

    Your opinion on divulging campsites?

I agree with that. Even myself while I always use a SPOT I make sure I turn it off or send an OK message a few miles before I arrive to where roughly we will set up camp. I have had some surprises. Not bad ones but "weird" to have someone pull right in front of you and call me by my first name...

    Bye Bye Motorcycle

I finally saw the photos. That left me speechless as I know the climb. I will probably be out of line asking what happened if it happened in Big Bend. Will be back there late September for 6 months. Let me know if ever there. We have plenty of room, I can cook! Rain water (filtered for...

    Your opinion on divulging campsites?

I am glad from these two replies that I am not off base. I myself must say get quite a bit of information from others so yes, give and take as it should be. I do also get Thank You notes and myself send also. Might just be me but exploring and finding new spaces is becoming more and more...

    Your opinion on divulging campsites?

So we have been on the road full-time camping for almost ten years, we have a public Journal which is a mixture of thoughts, spaces we have been to, you name it. I have received throughout those years many comments and emails (some not so nice!) to the fact that I should not make most of those...

    Bye Bye Motorcycle

Masterplumber Well, the sidecar is a convenience being on the road full-time camping with Spirit. A compromise I 100% accepted (pack more stuff too!) and I never look back at the 47 years on two wheels. That said, my heart always misses a beat when a two wheeler passes me on the twisties! Now a...

    Bye Bye Motorcycle

Thank you! Just a hobby and same with videos on YouTube. The total of Big Bend is about 3 million acres. 900,000 is the National Park. 300,000 is the State Park. The rest is Terlingua Ranch were I bought 20 acres 9 years ago for $100 an acre. We have 1100 miles of unpaved roads which ATV is fine...

    Does true unlimited data exist?

As far as I know and I have called Verizon twice also stopped at one of their store to triple check it does exist. I have been with what was Alltel now Verizon for I think 18 years. This year to Thank me (I guess!) they gave me a new Edge 6 +, kept my grandfathered in unlimited data and added...

    Flexible Solar panel installation questions.

I must have the same panel. Bought it on eBay but can't remember who. Just an idea. We are in an 2000 Ford f350 Turbo diesel 7.3L 4x4 with a Northern Lite 9'6 slide in camper. I like to park in the shade as much as possible. 2 AGM batteries, controller and a 30' extension to secure the panel on...

Lake Como Campground - Blanca, Colorado - Great Sand Dunes National Park

Thank you. Will have to check it out next time as we are there right now but at Pinion first come first served campground. Moving off tomorrow towards Marshall Pass to hunker down until after the holiday. It is $10 a night for us, not bad and fairly quiet since big rigs cannot get in. Being 100%...

    Bye Bye Motorcycle

I hope you adjust. I and my Buddy Spirit have to right now (95 GS1100 + Ural sidecar) because of spine surgery a couple months ago. But, I am finding much peace of mind not leaving the truck / slide in camper on BLM and National Forests lands while we go ride. There has been a lot of thefts...

    Mini Fridge VS. Igloo Cooler

I was offered electric coolers and turned them down. I cannot give up the simplicity. As you we also do have a cooler. Shade in the summer [even though we are never anywhere over 80] is important. You would be amazed how long some ingredients can last. And if by a creek even better! Leaving much...

    Mini Fridge VS. Igloo Cooler

I don't mean to go against the grain but we have been [my Dog and I!] on the road full time for over 6 years now without refrigeration. So yes, I don't eat meat unless I saw a Butcher [hardly in the isolated spaces we live in] or drink...

    Honda element camper!

Hi Vickie...
A few years back when we arrived here I knew we would be spending much time in the area. Let's face it, millions of acres and not many people! No free camping around here, it is around $350 a month to be like a sardine can in an RV park. The limit in the Park itself is I...

    Honda element camper!

Didn't do so well a couple days ago near Big Bend trying to get away from it all... Much rain, much mud... 4WD did not help a bit! It was beyond it all.

<img...
