    Shore power inlets

I know I could do that, but I would really like to be able to buy a simple pass-through socket if one exists. I'm hoping someone can point me to one.

    Free Cloth's For 3xl Guys

In the last month or so, I just got small enough to be able to fit into 3xl clothes and all my old stuff is falling off of me. :) I'm also in MA and am in the midst of a built. If you want to meet up sometime and swap things, I might have some build stuff you can use as well.

    Shore power inlets

No, it's not. This one has a female on the outside and no outlet on the inside. What I'm looking for is a male outside like the one I posted with a female similar connection on the inside so I can essentially just plug a power strip or a single AC appliance to it.

    Shore power inlets

I've been shopping for shore power inlets to put into my van. I've found a few discussions on the forum but nothing that has anything like what I'm seeking. It may even be possible that what I want isn't made.  I'm having a tough time finding the right hardware and I'm hoping someone knows of...

Can you buy 1/4" foam insulation sheets?

You could always order it to a local store. It's a shame you're not closer to me; I have about half a bundle or more left over from just doing my van. I'd be more than happy to give it to you.

Can you buy 1/4" foam insulation sheets?

I used the 1/4" pink foam they sell at Home depot. It's not rigid like the 1/2" foam board, but it works great when glued down in those little alleys. It's a bit pricey because they sell it only in a bundle, but it does the job...

    What's your story?

I knew I wanted some form of mobile house. I realized this when I was about 8 years old. I was watching Star Wars in the theater for the first time. Han Solo got up from the pilot's chair of the Millenium Falcon and walked into the back where there was a living space where people were playing...

    My first night out

I'm in Connecticut at a small, regional burn. It's a small, Burning Man type event. Most people are arriving today. I arrived early because I need to stay in the van. By this evening the place will be hopping. It's only about two hours from home, but boondocking for the first time. These...

    My first night out

Thank you! The box is just 6 gallons of water. :)

    My first night out

About an hour ago I woke up from my first night out. Apart from a little generator drama, everything went very well.  I wish I had done this 30 years ago! Thank you to all of you who have helped me get going with your advice and insight.

    Van slide out

Two other things. 1. The lengthwise ribs are set at 31" high so they're an excellent height to mount a bed right to. Them along the back with a pretty decent sized garage. You don't even need legs, just a platform bolted on to the ribs. It makes a bed both very easy and super sturdy. 2. I...

    Van slide out

I went with the Promaster 136" wb rather than the 118 for a couple of reasons. While I would prefer smaller for many purposes, the 118 come only in a 1500 and has poor brakes. With the weight involved in many builds I didn't feel confident that it would handle it. Also, with a bed in the back...

    Van slide out

Width between ribs is 73.6" but between the actual wall is something like 76" I believe. I build my bed so that my head and feet are between ribs so I've got a few extra inches.

I can eat on 1.50 a day! Limbo, how low can you go?

If you're just looking to keep body and soul together, you can live on beans and rice. You can get a 50 lb. bag of rice for around $25. Dry beans are also very, very cheap. Some salt, some spices, and you're living on well less than a dollar per day.

    Van slide out

I did the same sort of thinking. I'm 6'1". I ended up getting a Promaster van which is wide enough for me to sleep across. Barely. At 6'2" you might be able to do it but no one taller than that. The other option I looked at was making the bed wide enough (front to back in the van) that I could...

    CO/Smoke detector placement

Already done, but with the oddities of using one in a van, with its strange ventilation I wanted to seek additional advice from those who are experienced with them. In a room of a house or a much larger RV, the manual would be clear. Anyway, that's why I asked.  I know it seems like kind of a...

    CO/Smoke detector placement

Thanks guys. Mid way back and 3/4 of the way up it is. :)

    CO/Smoke detector placement

This Wednesday, I shall be off on my first trip in my van. It's half built, but should be serviceable.  It's mid-October in New England so in the event that I need heat, I've picked up one of those lovely Coleman propane burners. It's unlikely that I'll need it, but I'd like to be prepared just...

    AGM or LiFePo4?

It's OK. I don't need help understanding how to do a google search, but I appreciate the thought.
