San Diego crackdown on vehicle habitation

Don't do that. That is way the laws were put in place. That is why a lot of Walmart's do not allow overnight parking anymore. One person or group ruining it  for everyone.

San Diego crackdown on vehicle habitation

The sneaky cops will chalk an " X" on your tires or say they did in court. They use that for a time reference on how long you were parked in the same spot No way around that, especially if you didn't know. The judges always side with them. Always check your vehicle for a chalked "x" on...

    Evans waterless coolant???

I personally never heard of it. Here is a tech article. http://www.jcna.com/library/tech/tech0011.html  Evans coolant is 100% propylene glycol for the above tech article comparison. It makes your oil run hotter which is not a good thing. Also your cars computer is programmed to run on water and...

Be still, my beating heart (hope I'm not jinxing myself)

Sounds like the C-6... very reliable almost bullet proof, Thumbs up!    The AOD is  P-R-N-OD-D-1  The E4OD  has an Overdrive Cancel Switch on the shifter and has a P-R-N-OD-2-1 pattern same as the 4R70W transmission which is a another great transmission.

Its the common wire, or neutral wire.

Be still, my beating heart (hope I'm not jinxing myself)

If it has the overdrive and is equipped with E4OD transmission ( it will have an overdrive cancel button on the shifter and  P-R-N-OD-2-1 shifter pattern) and has not had the transmission upgraded  I would make sure to check the fluid and MAKE sure that its does not smell burnt and that it...

Ford: Spark Plug Socket won't grab!

Those thread inserts are actually to stop oil from fouling up the plugs, on pistons with oil bad rings. Seems like a cheap and sensible solution to the bad thread design.

Ford: Spark Plug Socket won't grab!

You been lucky on the Mustang. Occasionally they blow out of the engine when the threads have  been weaken over the years. I have a 98 Gt convertible and love it.

    P2271 engine code...

Excellent advice here. Always disconnect the battery and never use a any thing to scrape the inside of the connector (good way to short out the computer). I personally use CRC QD electronics spray Cleaner and the Permatex Dielectric grease , but that is all a matter of personal choice. I am...

    P2271 engine code...

Heck yes on the tail pipe.  Never me   but certain kids I knew use to stick a potato up the exhaust pipes of cars. Once the pressure built  up that car would not start anymore!

    Hi new member

Thank's all for the welcome. All of the above also Prescott , Safford , Alpine and a lot of New Mexico trips. I usually lick my finger to see which way the wind is blowing and head to the cooler high country. Never really matters which way the wind is blowing, just an old ritual I have.

Need help knowing what to look for

Here is what I look for in a van. 1.  Overdrive automatic 2.  3-4 core heavy duty radiator. 3.  Engine and transmission oil cooler 4.  Almost new tires 5.  Reliable v-8 6. Good heavy duty suspension. You get all that and you can build to suit your lifestyle.

Recommendation for a Van rig for solo traveller?

From my experience I would try something like a high top conversion van. I would personally stay away from all mini vans( Low long term reliability, I consider them throw away vehicles.). Depending on how handy you are, a conversion van can be turn into a class B. Registration, Insurance...

    "Magic Mesh" screen doors?

Harbor freight carries  some cheap ones that work great. I think they are made for car ports.

What do you think of this van? It's a Ford but....

I agree the Triton and v-10 had issues. I had both a 6 cyl. and a v-8. I personally like the v-8 best. You start adding weight to a 6 cyl. van and you will suffer both in gas mileage and power.
