    Have Fit, Will Travel

I will post pictures and or video on you tube at a late date. Basically I've been living in my Honda Fit since October but I'm devoting some time to traveling. My job just changed to Per Diem which means I have to work about 10 hours a month to keep my position. With the current state of things...

Do car people eat out or make food?

Thanks for the info John61CT. I like the butane stoves because they are a bit cheaper. I did look into the different fuel setups. I won't make a decision on price alone but it does seem cheaper to run propane through a butane stove even after adding the cost of added valves and connectors. The...

Do car people eat out or make food?

This is an interesting thread. I've been trying to decide what to do about a stove. I'm leaning toward jet boil but I live in the winter so I need something that will burn in the cold.

Van Dwellers Found Dead in CA

I live in cold country and never run the car when I'm sleeping. It's all about cold weather gear. Sad to see these stories.

A kitchen that fits in a car trunk

I saw the windshield washer pump used only by one other person. But that's interesting.

    MUDD

I happened on mudds in the 2000s maybe late 90s but it appealed to me.

    MUDD

Yeah, multi player dungeon/dragon usually but there are a lot of different themes. I wondered if van dwellers would play because it's a low bandwidth kind of transaction.

How-To Info for Living in a Honda Fit (or any car!)

Excellent - I may look into those Anderson plugs. My computer is only 3.6 amps. That's why I always look at the panels. I've never come close to 120 watts. I think I'm at 67 with my computer and my phone and my FM transmitter plugged in. Thanks for the additional info John61CT.

How-To Info for Living in a Honda Fit (or any car!)

Spirit4earth, I'm amending my post because I just read what you posted more carefully. You said, how much inverter can the Fit Battery handle. You don't want to use your starting battery for your house power supply - it's just not a good idea. The inverter isn't running directly off the...

How-To Info for Living in a Honda Fit (or any car!)

You can just buy a little 12v usb plug if you only need to plug in one device. I power my computer off the inverter.

How-To Info for Living in a Honda Fit (or any car!)

Spirit4earth The Honda 12v outlet only has 120 watts. So, no don't plug 200 watts. If you want more than 120 watts, you need to add a battery. That being said, you should be able to plug in a phone, computer and tablet all at the same time. You could also probably hook up LED light or...

    Enjoying Bob’s book!

I read his book. It's true that some of the info is here. But it's easy to read his book cover to cover and it includes everything. It's a really good book for beginners though.

Getting closer... though not by choice

Hey there. If you are committed to relocating or going nomadic keep getting rid of stuff you don't need. At the same time you should put together things you do need. I suggest a back packing bag because they are easy to carry. Some people call these bug-out bags. Make sure you are strong enough...

How-To Info for Living in a Honda Fit (or any car!)

I believe the inverter is by Road Proof. You should be able to find it at an auto store. An internet search should show you which ones. The following is a link to the exact model I have. I am not suggesting you buy it from this store it was just the easiest way to share the exact model...

    Portland overwhelmed with abandoned RV's.

Sorry, I just watched the video. It's too bad these cities have this problem. I was going to say more but it leaned too heavily on the political side. Ultimately it is to the people and the governments of these places to come up with solutions to the problem. I hope they come to a solution which...

    Portland overwhelmed with abandoned RV's.

I work in a residential setting with developmentally disabled. Some of the people I support would be classified as, 'mentally ill'. I think supportive residential settings can fill the gap between self sufficient individuals and those who are not self sufficient. The main issue I see from the...
