Now ?'s for the seasoned camper re. roof top solar panels

My camper has no roof rack and I was wondering if the benefits of having
solar panels on the roof would be worth the effort and drawbacks of more holes in the roof for the mounting of a rack to mount solar.

I am thinking that whilst driving the truck will be doing the charging, when...

    roof to side repair/seal...with PHOTOS

After much deliberation and pondering I decided last night that Fiberglass was the way to go.....Then I woke up this morning, after rehearsing the vertical fiberglass application in my head , changed my mind.

I separated what areas I could between the roof and the side skin (mostly the...

    roof to side repair/seal...with PHOTOS

Wade...that was my first plan however if I remember correctly I was discouraged by some postings I read somewhere, the thought was that fiberglass woouldnt flex or adhere reliably. I think that is what I understood.
I might even of posted that plan here sometime back...I love fiberglass and i...

    roof to side repair/seal...with PHOTOS

These are some interesting ideas, I may be over thinking this , but the problem I am seeing with using some kind of L shaped flashing or angle is that it too has to be fastened to some thing, the roof metal is very VERY thin and on the top I would have to screw it within an inch of the...

    roof to side repair/seal...with PHOTOS

No pics yet...to try and describe it better......where the roof metal overlaps the side by about 1" that over lap is not intact. it is lifting off at an angle in some areas and is generally deformed for most of the length. I have tried forming it back in but as one area is taped in the other...

    roof to side repair/seal...with PHOTOS

I am making great progress on my "rebuild' project. however I keep going back and forth on how to proceed with the sealing of my roof edge where it meets the side.
This edge is not a smooth intact overlap, there are some areas where the roof metal is not laying totally flat against the side...

Willy...the foam was bonded to the roof...at least what is left of it. half of the right side has been removed.
What I have done, is cut slots in the remaining foam and I am running 2x3 across the ceiling 24" apart. they will be supported at the sides. The 2x3's are now just about flush with...

    At across roads....advise needed

    progress so far...

I have rebuilt (from inside) the side wall, replacing the crappy 1"x2" with 2"x3"....

I then moved on to the front over hang area. I initially thought I could also get away with replacing the interior framing from inside. This framing appeared to only support the finish...

Have I created an A/C nightmare????

highdesertranger......Yes there is a possibility that the A/c may go...I havent really tried it yet to see how good it works...no work...no stay. However if it does work that may be the only way I maybe able to sell this thing (if I decide to) over here in Florida.

how is this for a ceiling fix plan???

the more I think about it the less likely it is that I will replace the roof, there is no rafters on this TC. and I cant figure out how it would be supported.
The rubber membrane is definitely a possibility, my concern is being able to get the existing metal clean enough to get a good bond...
