mounting solar panels on the side ...

On my Truck Camper I am considering mounting 2 100 watt panels on the side in a temporary fashion. that would enable me to use them there when tilted at an angle, or remove them and have them portable to be placed in the sun while I am parked in the shade, and also removed and stored away while...

So after almost a year of rebuilding, preparing, planning and repetitive info overload...We finally did it. We left Tampa Fl. October 9th went north to Atlanta, then West. Drove almost straight through till we got to Utah....Then the fun began. After Utah(Moab, Canon Land) it was Colorado,(Mesa...

trip route suggestions, Florida to Utah

Plan on heading out from Central Florida with Utah as the destination. We only have 3 weeks to make the entire trip and back. We want to spend as much time as possible seeing Utah but would still like a scenic route to get there, one that would allow as much free places to stay as possible. We...

need to raise TC 3" to clear cab roof,,ideas?

Willy, I thought that by increasing the surface area that the camper sits on (using a sheet of 3/4" ply) would be more stable. I do have ribbed bed liner that I really do not want to remove. My plan of a 2x4 platform was to bolt it to the frame through the center of the bed. I already have...

need to raise TC 3" to clear cab roof,,ideas?

B&US...from everything i have read, the shackles are not to be torqued down tight so as to allow some flex movement. so any hing that will help prevent movement helps....including removing bed liners

need to raise TC 3" to clear cab roof,,ideas?

B&US...the idea of the bed mat is to prevent sliding,,,a little more traction. Signman...dont plan on winter camping so I might pass on the insulation,, thanks

need to raise TC 3" to clear cab roof,,ideas?

Well I finally loaded the TC in my truck. For the overhang to clear the cab sufficiently I will need to raise the camper a minimum of 3" on the bed. My thoughts of doing this is as follows... The bottom of the camper has exposed framing of 2"x4" and 2x2's ..I am thinking of screwing 2x4's to...

When to give up on my truck

IMHO I would check to see what a recycle (junk yard ) engine goes for. To 'Properly' rebuild an engine is going to cost you more...that is doing it right. Find a junk yard with a good reputation. see what a low mileage engine cost, ask to see the vehicle it came out of, and at least...

    come a long way??? pics

Kayaker, Pretty brave?...thanks. There was a point in the process where I thought I was pretty stupid for attempting it. But now that it is done, I feel a sense of accomplishment and a certain kind of attachment to the camper.....I actually went to look at a similar unit which was newer and...

    come a long way??? pics

Well if I had to do it again....I would. If you have a place to work on it,(mine was outside and covered with tarp) and you are halfway handy with tools I would say go for it. Unless you have mega bucks to spend an a fairly new unit, find the cheapest one you can find, like I did (as a few...

    come a long way??? pics

After two good days of work this is where I am at....I painted the roof with Liquid Rubber (not koolseal stuff, this cost $98 a gallon), goes on with some effort as it is pretty thick but sure looks like it will be water tight..then got the ceiling and walls in place. now some final trim...
