Whats the best way to attach a flexible Solar panel to a van Roof?

3M makes a VHB double sided tape that would work.  I know of many people who have used it for regular solar panels using four corner no drill mounting brackets.  You wouldn't need the brackets for a flexible panel.  Just tape the corners and a couple of places mid panel. I did not put a link...

    TMG's Van Thread! (Picture-heavy.)

Nice find!  It looks to be in pretty good shape for its age!  And nice work on finding extra storage places.  Those are always needed! Water heater looks like mine which is a Suburban.  You can get the anode rods which are the 9 1/2 inch ones on Amazon for less money than an RV store. I hope...

    Need input completing my Solar

100 watt panels only weigh about 16 lbs.  I think Jim was saying that the 230 and 245 panels weigh 50 or more lbs. Yes, trying to manhandle larger panels in a portable set-up would get old for me!  Two 100 watt panels sound like they might work for you.

    Suitcase Solar Advantages?

Here is how another member did it:    http://www.cheaprvliving.com/blog/installing-renogy-200-watt-solar-kit/     I installed my controller close to the battery (not in the battery box) and fused.  I used regular solar cable with MC4 connectors and ran the wire from the controller to the panels...

    Suitcase Solar Advantages?

Thanks!  She's 13 years old; I've had her for 5 years.  Only has 127,000 miles on her and I keep on top of maintenance, so hopefully I have many more miles to drive.  I like your portable set-up too!  I think for some of us, portable is the best solution.  Now that I've used it for a couple of...

    Suitcase Solar Advantages?

Thank you!  I have two spring loaded curtain rods that I use to tilt the panels up when the sun is high  The chocks help in the morning and evening when I lower the panels.  Just try to use things I already have. I try to get every last bit of sunlight I can before dark.  LOL.

    Suitcase Solar Advantages?

Here is my little portable set-up.  Two 70 watt panels.  Controller is mounted close to the battery but not in the battery box.  Wire and controller are large enough for expansion.  Portable is better for me because my roof has alot of shadow potential and I didn't want to worry about how I...

Technical Q&A For Renogy Solar Products

The amp rating of your charge controller must be more than the short circuit amp rating of your panel (or panels).  The controller you linked to would work and give you room to add another panel later if you chose to do so, as long as their combined short circuit amp rating was not more than the...

Technical Q&A For Renogy Solar Products

Dan, I didn't understand what it meant either until I researched it.  I have the 30 amp PWM, the cheap one, and it says that the load connection is only good for a small light.  I don't use it anyway.  The charge controller positive still goes to the battery positive and the negative to...
