Hey there. Yes, I agree. Lots of great information here. I have just moved from the category of dreamer to owner! Don't give up hope yet! :-) --joe

Thanks for the encouragement. I am just starting out too, building my first van. Keep dreaming and good luck to you and yours! --joe

    Found and bought my rv!

Well done! I looked for a while but everything I found was $$ and looked like it served as deer camp one too many times! Enjoy! --joe

    Hello from So.Cal.

Welcome!   I am new here too.   Been lurking for a while but bought a van (2008 Chev Express Cargo) a couple of weeks ago and working on outfitting it.   I am trying for the ability to live ten days off grid, so it won't be a lite project.   I envy you that! --joe

Hello everyone! Just bought a van!

Wow, very clean! I live where salt eats cars so it is really amazing to see something of this age without rust spots. Seems like you have a really great starting point here! --joe

Hello from the land of snow!

I am thinking of a 315w solar panel on the roof and have purchased a Tripp Lite APS1250.   Do you think that enough?   I would like to have enough battery power to run the van for ten days if I have to with some minimal living. Will I notice the left heaviness of it? --joe

Hello from the land of snow!

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome messages.   Here are three shots of the floor plan I am thinking about and will post about in the blog maybe late this week.    The three attached images are the start of an electrical diagram, a floor plan and a plan at roughly counter height. --joe

    Ambulance conversion?

There was a mural painter working on a project down the street from my house. He had a similar setup. It was very nice. WAY more space in these than a traditional van. I envy your project. I need the stealth so am heading down the extended cargo route. Good luck on your project! --joe

    Conversion time line

I am a little confused by your question. As I read it, you are going to hire the insulation, walls and floor. If that is the case, a shop is going to want to turn that around pretty quick and get it out the door. I would be surprised if it took them more than three days. Maybe only two...

    Design software

Sketchup isn't bad but if you really want to do something nice, I would suggest Blender.   There are a lot of youtube tutorials on how to run it.   The thing though I really like about it is you can download files other people have done and work from those.   I found and downloaded a 3D van...

Hello from the land of snow!

Hello everyone.   I am in the process of converting a cargo van into a stealth camper.    I have been lurking here for months and have gotten lots of good information.   Thank you everyone who posts here. If you want to read about my story, I am blogging it...
