    I-15 Fire Cajon Pass

Gotta know when to foldup and walk away.  Might be hard but some times the best thing to do is shut down, grab what you can carry, leave the keys in the ignition and be ready to walk away. I've been trapped up there twice and the insanity of some people leaves me speechless!  I'd hate to lose...

    Reverse Elitism

I'm seriously considering changing forums as I sense this forum is only interested in stealth, broke and vans.  I'm not broke, but not rich, I can afford to spend a bit on things, which I like to share what I find in using them.  If you don't like the fact that I'm willing to pay rent to be near...

93 winnebago Itasca 22 ft Worth a look!

For people looking for a reasonably priced mobile living space with no desire to stealth camp, with the ability to tow either a vehicle or trailer, this is well worth a look. The ground clearance is reasonably high and the tail is nice and short for a Type A motorhome, good for boondocking...

93 winnebago Itasca 22 ft Worth a look!

93 could be either a Ford 460 or a Chevy 454. I've seen both in the early 90 models. The price is right if the rig is half as good as it looks in the pics.  If you aren't looking for stealth then this size of rig for a single is a great size. Corky

93 winnebago Itasca 22 ft Worth a look!

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/rvs/5121993627.html No genset, that's a plus in my book! Lots more questions, like make of Chassis, etc. If you're in Socal might be worth a look. Corky

    choosing a vehicle confusion

I have a 1982 El Darado TransVan, 26 ft, Ford Econoline E350, with a 460 CI.  The beast has a side door, and had a queen bed in it.  From my research, I never found a shorter one with a sidedoor prior to 2k. Corky

    Solar Panels as window awning?

HDR, I plan at this point to make the brackets and panels easy to put on and take off, while moving there would just be mounting bolt places.  The way I travel I usually setup and stay for awhile, I currently put the panels out on ground stands right now. Corky

Ladder to get up on top....Std Vans

http://www.amazon.com/GP-Logistics-SLDD7-Compact-Folding/dp/B009IJUL4O They make a seven foot version as well. Their advertising sure doesn't show the folding feature very well.   Corky

Ladder to get up on top....Std Vans

Mike,  The ladder you posted isn't like the link I gave you!   Ladder I posted folds to a 5 inch square that is 6 ft long, will fit beside your solar panels with no overlap or shadow.  Watch the video. Corky

    Solar Panels as window awning?

I've been looking at putting awnings on the driver side windows of my rig, though is crossing my mind of building supports and using solar panels to block the sun, any comments? Corky

Ladder to get up on top....Std Vans

With your long and narrow space this looks good! http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/7-double-sided-rung-ladder/20319 The link isn't to the best place to buy, it just has a great video showing how it works! I've seen several like this ladder in various lengths, so look around. Corky

Getting paid to stay in San Diego

I think there may be more of these deals out there in the future, things are getting rather nasty out in the back country here in San Diego county.  Border fence has moved border crossers further to the east and there are lots of high cost "ranches" out around this place.  If you can live...

Getting paid to stay in San Diego

i was planning on heading out to the mountains, but fate gave me a way to stay for three more months.  I'm staying on a "ranch" with pad, water. power, cable tv  and sewer, plus getting paid to do it.  Owner is going to Europe for three months and wants the place "inhabited" but not the house...

Sky, http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/rvs/5076072866.html I went an look at this yesterday with a friend, great shape and really nice!  Not new but you can buy lots of gas for the price difference, lots of gas!  Little bigger than you first posted, but really nice for two people. Corky

Anyone use a 12v TV / computer monitor?

I run a 32" flat screen for both computer and entertainment, off an inverter.  Power loss isn't that much, neither is power draw for both the computer and monitor, I use a 400 watt inverter to runboth. You have to put a video card with a DVI output in your computer if you really want to do it...

Sky, Step back, take a deep breath and relax!! Point 1) buying new in RV's isn't the only way to go! Point 2) talk to the wife and LEARN what she thinks and wants, might surprise you. Point 3) take time to look around a bit, craig's list is your friend and you can look fro free. Point 4)...

    Dynamax REV

I would strongly suggest renting an RV with a Murphy bed before buying, my rig had such a bed and it was the second thing I removed!  Setting a bed every night before you can go to sleep gets old REALLY fast! Corky

I've lived in a 1982 version of a transvan for the last three years and love it.  If you want to do a conversion, you can build a similar vehicle from a shuttle bus and you can find many older versions for FAR less money..  I paid very little for my 1982 transvan with 55 k miles on it, less than...

RV's are just that Recreation Vehicles

Lots of gripes, about half, from what I've seen are from cheap builds and about half are from misuse of the equipment. I find that if you can find a good chassis with a good house, then you can build from there.  You have to make the decision to spend the money to make what you want and not...
