ok, I'll keep it...   I have to learn to stop making decisions so quickly with post responses and let a few build up before replying :P

Thanks, I'd considered this with a blanket or something instead because I don't have a big enough piece of anything to cover it.

This here.. I like this idea.. so my panels would go in there.. out to the batteries and my loads (fuse box, inverter) would also come out of the Controller?

I considered keeping mine just attached permanently - but was worried about when I'm not in the van or when I'm sleeping. The Inverter wakes me up and starts beeping when it got low - so I woke up and disconnected all electric - but it was already low by then, and I had to unplug it all myself. ...

I have a relay type isolater also in my system.  But I didn't know any better and when I had mathed the watts used for my fridge, I considered the whole 100ahs and not the 50ahs that is actually safe to use with a 100ah battery -- if you get my drift with that sentence... and over discharged the...

It's two little pieces... one little monitor looking thingy... and one small but rather heavy piece with two terminals/bolts   Fits in the palm of my hand

Thanks, this makes so much sense and I hadn't even considered it. I was just adding up AHs So now, I have a more expensive WindyNation 100ah battery that I can't afford another right now... . and I also have a cheap EverStart 85ah battery.. that I could afford another...     I'm gonna go with a...

Hmmm.. yeah, I hadn't thought about equalizing or balancing during the connection --  I only did the total math at 185 ah. But that does make a lot of sense.....   Thanks for that.  Now I'm not sure if I'm going to keep my twice-as-expensive-100ah battery and get another which I don't have...

According to Renogy User Manual...  ""When two or more batteries are connected in parallel, their voltage remains the same but the AmpHour ratings add up."" Then there is a picture of the Charge controller, going from + on one battery, and - on the second battery Then each battery going + to...

That's what I said.... + to + and - to -  *edit* hooking charge controller to the battery connection is + on one, - on the other, that's what the Renogy manual says for 12v and adding AHs.. not the battery to battery connection... and it has to be at night because the panels can't be plugged...

Hey Folks!!  Wow, last time I commented here I was still in a car. I HATED it.  Now, I've had the van for a few months. Have rebuilt two... or three times ::) Pretty  happy with my build now.  And have ventured into Electricity.  Came back to this forum because I'm really annoyed by the haters...

    Starting in my car

Thanks! I tried some neodymium magnets, but they didn't stick to anything... I guess too much padding and plastic. So I'm just gonna use a tension rod. Currently, I use binder clips around the plastic area of the window. I was perusing Walmart and found this tent 'door' that I cut up to fit my...

Drive $500 car until in breaks - repeat

Part of me is tempted to see just how long it will last... but another part of me knows I really need the space of the van. Maybe I'll feel different once the bed is installed... Maybe I'll give it up to another desperate dweller when I upgrade to a van.

    Truck Stop App

Agreed.. Same Question.. I wanted to do this one night, but there seemed to be no other cars there....? and when I checked their website, there was only spots for Trucks to pay to reserve.. didn't mention cars at all.  I ended up my first night at a 24-hour rest stop. I felt pretty good there...

Drive $500 car until in breaks - repeat

I paid $400 for my 1996 Buick six years ago. Nothing major has gone wrong with it. Currently there seems to be a throttle or idle issue...? gives high RPMs sometimes... but I'm just gonna let it go... I trust it. this is why I am ok with starting off in my Buick LeSleeper for a bit before I can...
