hello all ... I just joined this group this morning, which popped up when I googled a camping questiion. We've owned a 96 Roadtrek 190 Versatile for about 12 years now, and LUV boondocking w it! I am considering a Carado Axion Studio Loft next, perhaps, which is only 17 ft but has an upper pop up bed to save space. Any Carado owners out there? I hope this pic of our Roadtrek shows up!😊

I do not have a Carado Axion. But I do have a 1971 fiberglass travel trailer with a popup roof section. But I will caution you that popup roof bed areas are not going to be a very comfortable sleeping option in strong winds or on rainy days or in cold weather. Those are “batten down the hatches” days when you will find the best thing to do is keep that popup section lowered and latched. So unless you have adequate sleeping space without that upper bed you might want to take that into account.

Thx for the reply! And yes, the Carado does offer sleeping below, so the loft wud be for fair weather sleeping only. Honestly, I'd be more worried about bears, as we've encountered a few here and there .. 🤪

But….you have the option of not raising the popup when in bear country. That is not much different than not raising it in bad weather.

I'm curious about why you're interested in the Axion. When it was introduced in 2017, it had a novel floor plan on an uncommon chassis. But nowadays, several RV manufactures have models on the Promaster 136 chassis using that floor plan as well as other variations. Like Winnebago's Solis Pocket 36B, which in my opinion, improves upon the Axion layout in some pretty clever ways, and has a modern electrical system, powered by EcoFlow.
