I had a catalytic heater in my old truck camper and it worked fine even when the temperature was in the teens however I had a lot of trouble starting it when I got above 10000 feet.
I have seen signs in the Walmart here in Colorado about jobs working at night stocking shelves for about $18/hr. I would apply but I am leaving the area soon.

I stock up on paper plates, plastic cups, and have a couple of regular utensils (can't stand using plastic utensils). Doesn't take much to wash utensils so you save on water.

In some states and counties they will only let ambulance and police cars get so many miles on it and then sell it no matter the condition of the vehicle. You might be able to get a good deal there.
