Thanks all for the responses:
I agree that weight should be reduced/moved forward, however there isn't much opportunity to do so unless I make significant changes to my current interior layout. I will make a conscience effort to move things forward that can be moved. One significant aspect...
I've got a couple questions related to vehicle weight and the impact that it has ride/suspension. After 2 months on the road, I finally decided to investigate a fix for how rough the van has been riding on dirt/gravel (nat'l forest & BLM roads). It turns out the leaf springs on the rear axle are...
I have a racheting screwdriver that stores all of the extra bits (I think it has around 12 different type/size bits) in the handle. Super useful for adjusting/tightening anything in my build-out and it keeps things super organized (no bits rolling around in my toolbox).
So it's been a few days now and after tightening all of the connections, everything is running perfectly. I can hardly believe it was that easy/feel slightly like a dumby, but am super happy that it worked out. Thanks for all of the pointers and help. I also bought a ammeter and battery...
Thanks everybody for the responses. Honestly, they have been super super helpful. I'll be picking up a ammeter and hydrometer when I get to the next town/city. The suggested voltage tests/monitoring makes sense to me.
Since checking and re-tightening the connections, the issues seem to have...
Thanks everybody for the input... did a bit more trouble shooting today and will see how things go over the next 24hrs. Additional info below and responses to everbody.
Additional thoughts:
Both the charge controller and inverter have built in fault mechanisms that cut power if the detected...
Hi there - I have now been living full-time out of my van for the past month. When I installed my electrical system, all appeared to be well and good, however a few significant issues have appeared over the past couple of weeks that I am trying to diagnose. My guess is that they are all related...
Cool - thanks everybody. I'll likely bolt and use the jb weld product to ensure a secure fit. Will share the outcome once finished, hopefully this weekend.
I have a Ford e250 Handicap Conversion Van that has two pretty large holes/gaps in the metal body, due to various changes related to the original handicap conversion.
The first is in the back-right corner and is a result of the gas tank being swapped from one side to the other for the lowering...
Thanks John. My thought was similar. Seemed too good to be true for an AGM. I'm leaning towards either 2 Trojan or the Duracell branded 6v FLA batteries for the value. I've read differing perspectives regarding ventilation for FLA - any insight/experience on the need for that? I expect to have...
Does anybody have experience with the Renogy AGM batteries? They seem to be considerably cheaper than other AGM batteries with similar capacity.
Deep Cycle AGM 100AH (12v) = $199
Deep Cycle AGM 200AH (12v) = $390
They have minimal reviews on Amazon and haven't found much about them...
