    My new hero

Those are totally awesome. I like how he has things strapped up underneath the diagonal part in the back.

Milk crates and plywood for my first van bed???

I think you will find that it is pretty easy to just lift the plywood a hair and slide out the crates themselves, even with a mattress on top. I've never had much trouble, and I have pretty much zilch for arm strength. Hey, you could even keep a stick handy that is a hair longer than the crates...

Milk crates and plywood for my first van bed???

Perhaps you could take some cheap rubber hose, slit it, and put a piece along the top edge of each crate. That might prevent the plywood from sliding around just enough. But not enough to keep you from dragging an individual crate out from underneath.   Just brainstorming. Oh, also a vote for...

    Rockwell 4-1/2" Compact Circular Saw

This is my new, most favorite power tool. https://www.rockwelltools.com/en-US/Compact-Circular-Saw.aspx It is light weight and easy to use. Because I can see the line, I can follow a line with super precision. It is well balanced and easy for me to use one handed. The blade height adjustment...

    InSoFast

I saw an ad for these in Family Handyman and thought some some people might be able to make use of them. They are smaller panels so they are easy to handle. You just glue them up to any flat surface. Then they have a strip that you can just screw right into. No furring strips required. Perfect...

Milk crates and plywood for my first van bed???

I have had two people sleeping on about 12-16 cardboard boxes with a couple of sheets of 1/2" OSB laying on top of it. You would be surprised how sturdy a 1/2" sheet of plywood or OSB is. When you are laying down, all your weight gets distributed pretty well. Heck, I could even stand on the bed...

    Mothra Metamorphosis

Cleaned the front and cab before I was totally pooped again. My son came over and was working on sorting out the stuff he doesn't want and on moving his smaller stuff, so I helped him for a while. When he sold his trampoline, the buyers didn't take the "safety" screen. It is a very durable...

    Mothra Metamorphosis

It's kinda rain-ish today here in Austin. I got up on the roof of the RV and scrubbed it down with Simple Green and a driveway scrub brush on a broomstick. This is in preparation for putting that Black Jack sealant up there. Those broomsticks are never quite long enough. Gonna have to buy an...

I've made a decision. I'm cutting off my roof!

Sounds like an awesome idea. I've seen videos, and even posts here, about finding a hightop on a van that is in a junkyard. You can take the top off the junk van, tie it on top of your van, and drive it home to complete the installation. This way you don't have to deal with the junk van once...

Old Stanley stainless insulated jug... anyone recognize?

So, is it still trapped up in that building? Or were you able to get it out?

    Grant's 27th Year

I'm gonna let you all in on a little secret: I am exhausted, and overwhelmed, and scared, and profoundly lonely. I work at a job that rivals Office Space in its level of BS and cronyism, where I am forced to guess my way through processing medical claims for veterans because NO ONE knows how...

    2-Burner Propane Stoves

Well, I have been telling myself that I would make myself some fresh-baked cookies for like 30 years. I have just never gotten around to it. I think, for me, a stove would just end up being a very noisy place to store pots and pans, that I also don't use very much. But we can save that...

    2-Burner Propane Stoves

I never said anything about "converting" anything. As I have said many times, this RV is an empty shell. I have no idea if the manifold is even still down there. If it is, and it is connected to the tank via a hose, then that hose is surely past its safe lifespan. So, I will literally be...

    2-Burner Propane Stoves

This makes it sound as if there is some rule book that I am supposed to follow. Is there such a set of rules or laws, to which I must comply? Who enforces said rules? Where can I get a copy of them? Or do these rules only apply to manufactured RVs, sold by dealerships? Those flared ends... Are...
