    Modern Day Walden

Sigurg Olson was a modern day Thoreau for sure.    I would recommend "Listening Point".    Here is the blurb for the book :  Many people have a special place where they go to experience nature. Perhaps it is a cabin, or a campsite, or a favorite hiking trail. For Sigurd Olson it was a bare...

    Clothing Optional Locations?

At least at the nudist resort where we are members, there are no beauty queens/kings and no one cares if you sag or jiggle.  The friendliest, least judgmental community I know of.  I'm a nearly 54yo overweight lady with heart surgery scars and shingles scars, and wasn't "all that" to start out...

got a free Instapot...I like it

You can cook smaller amounts of food using the pot-in-pot method. put at least a cup of water in it, then set your smaller inner pot on the trellis. I really love it for making yogurt; most effortless yogurt ever!

What's your favorite way to wind-down at the end of the day?

Skinny dip, then relaxing music, a cup of tea and good conversation with friends. Or if I'm feeling the need for solitude, an audiobook.

recipe challenge: Vienna Sausages for the fridgeless :)

Brown them well in butter, put them on a plate, then lay a slice of cheese over them while they are still hot so it melts. or ... mush them up well in a skillet, add cooked rice, pepper, garlic powder (no salt needed!), makes a sort of "dirty rice". I guess (sorry) you could probably also add...

Why are you a snow bird ???

When I finally go full time, my nudist soul will demand I follow the good weather. Being naked is a lot more fun when you're not freezing your butt off. I have nudist friends now who live in north central texas in the summer, but go to Florida for the winter. They seem pretty happy with...

Male/ Female / couples percentages or numbers doing this? I had heard Nob

I am a future solo female nomad who would escape S&B **now** except that my husband has no interest in that lifestyle and my kiddo has special needs and needs to be in school where they have more resources/knowledge to help her than I do. But, kiddo will be off to college in 3 years...

Women Only: Do any of you know any self-defense...

Not necessarily true.  My husband served in the Marines for 20 years.  While he was strong, fitter than you can believe, and was a master marksman, he received very little hand-to-hand combat training beyond boot camp.   In hand-to-hand (and he admits this), I could kick his ass with my ten...

Women Only: Do any of you know any self-defense...

1st Degree BB in American Kenpo here. Watching youtube videos will not improve your ability to defend yourself. Get with a qualified martial arts instructor. Which style is less important than practicing on a living/breathing body, practicing on partners of varying size and shape, and...

WOMEN ONLY!!! Menstrual Cup Linked to Toxic Shock Syndrome

Looking at the study (link to the study is in the article Cyndi linked to), they say nothing about whether toxic shock has occurred in any women using menstrual cups, only that S.a. grows on them in the lab. In the article they quote one menstrual cup manufacturer who says that the only...

    WOMEN ONLY: Guns?

I taught a ladies self-defense class many years ago. I asked "who carries a firearm" at the beginning of the class. I picked several of the students and for my own safety, handed them a rubber training gun (used in training martial artists to disarm, not used in training how to shoot...

    **** Lifestyle

Yes, some brain functions, red blood cells need glucose, but your body can create all the glucose it needs from protein and even fat (the glycerol backbone of free fatty acids).   There is absolutely no requirement to ingest carbohydrates.

**** diet while on the road/shelf stable ideas

I can speak to the diabetic angle (I am T2D).  I lowered my A1c from 11.6 to 5.7% on strict therapeutic **** (20g total carb/day, almost all of that from veggies).  I had to work with my doctor to adjust my medications when I started ****, as I had some hypoglycemic episodes, and ended up...
