Experience with a Berkey Water Filter System

When a manufacturer uses words like "Certified to reduce lead and heavy metals", I immediately want more information, like how much of a reduction is there? Technically reducing heavy metals could hypothetically be from 100 ppm to 99 ppm and still be an accurate statement. I would want to...

what's the futur for gasoline van/RV/camper

...because you opened the door to my post by saying in 10 to 15 years a lot can happen. I just ran with that statement. ¿Comprende?

Experience with a Berkey Water Filter System

I use my Travel Berkey every day and I have 3 years on my black filters. I bought 2 extra sets of black filters when I bought the Berkey at $108.00 per set. I dump the water when traveling and so far it has traveled well with no damage.

An actual analysis of the cost difference between heating with Propane vs Diesel fuels

Here in Southern Oregon propane sells for $2.52 per gallon, so it's more economical than diesel. I heat my step van with 120v shore power because electricity here is 8 cents per kilowatt. On the road my vented propex HS2800 has served me well for more than three years with no maintenance and...

what's the futur for gasoline van/RV/camper

In 10 to 15 years a fair number of members on this forum will be dead, so for them this is a moot question. I'm not worried about ANYTHING that far out in time.

Look What's Coming... in a year or two.

I've owned half a dozen or so aircooled VW busses, and they were economical (cheap parts and great on gas) and could go many places marked for 4WD vehicles only. The down side is that they are high maintenance with frequent oil changes and valve adjustments, plus the engines would wear out...

    Cold in Quartzsite

Are you living in your vehicle at -30° F? I'm in my step van with 2 inches of polyiso on all 6 sides. Tonight will be -1° F, but the van inside will be 68-70° F because of the good insulation and the Propex vented heater. A 73° difference between inside and outside is good in my book.

Dumping Waste, Bags or Composting Waste

I noticed that when the dumpsters are locked up, people just toss their trash next to the dumpster. I guess the short sighted owners couldn't foresee that happening!

Slept in 2006 Dodge Caravan Minivan WITH Diesel Heater - Nearly Froze

Dear Bob is wrong about not insulating the floor.  I have 2 inches of polyiso foam on my floor and it helps considerably.   Wintering in Southern Oregon I have  stayed warm down to 0° F while maintaining 66° inside the van.   Vented propane heater with a thermostat does the job.

    Cummins Canoe (A Stepvan Story)

Your van definitely has a gypsy curse on it. You have control arms and my P35 has a drop axle with kingpins. I did a complete rebuild of the front suspension last year. Looks like you might be doing the same now.

Making $100 at a Casino, professional gambler discussion

This has to be one of the most bizarre threads I've seen on any forum. Strange became bizarre with the music videos....

YouTube video request; what happens when someone passes away while RVliving?

So nice of you to answer for Bob, I'm sure he appreciates you doing that.   Maybe you could do his videos for a while and give him a break? Having 20+ years experience as an attorney, the reality of that situation is 180° different from the plans one may make.  The person(s) who find you dead...

    Cummins Canoe (A Stepvan Story)

I don't know how to tell what transmission I have, but it's the original trans. HDR thinks it might be a rock crusher. How do you make a 4 speed into a 5 speed w/overdrive?

    Cummins Canoe (A Stepvan Story)

I have a Cummins 4BT rated at 95 HP.  Dana rear end, 4 speed manual trans.   16-17 mpg on flat ground.   Governed to 56 mph.   GVW is at 10,000 pounds and it's right there.
