Hi,

I am all of the above mentioned, and nearing 65 without finances to retire in place. Looking at vanlife as a good option. The plan so far:

Converting an ambulance, as an E350 has the oomph to haul my industrial sewing machine and a serger, plus plenty storage--and setting it up as a mobile sewing studio. A commercial use vehicle may get around some insurance issues.

My question for those who've been on the road is, would access to custom upholstering/curtains/canvas & leather & clothing repair be something of interest at RTR or other get-togethers? Are there any suggestions for ways to market such services on the road? Not just to fellow travelers, but in towns as I pass through...

I'm also developing an income stream on Etsy of feltwork, as well as offering editing services.

I suck at marketing myself, which is my prime hurdle. Any thoughts on marketing would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance for your encouragement!

At rtr you cant charge money for anything. No selling allowed. I imagine you can take customers out of the immediate area maybe but I don’t know for sure.

Quartzsite you could rent a booth and stay a couple of months or even just advertise on the many bulletin boards.
