Howdy! My name is Valerie and I am brand spanking new to much of this lifestyle...I have many questions and concerns...but right now I am wondering if there are any workamper jobs/locations that do not require you to have an RV...I only have my car and would be willing to live out of a tent..also have my two cats in tow...seems most of these jobs are for rvers and for couples...anybody know of any alternatives...I may be able to get a van soon..but for now this is it...thanks in advance!

Welcome Valerie to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you. highdesertranger

Everything on coolworks. IDK about pets...Prolly not.

Something I'd bid you to consider.

In the news media it seems to be full of people being reported for leaving their pets in cars unattended. (especially in hot or cold weather) There are a lot of animal rights people out there and they may not be too understanding.
So give this plenty of consideration.    I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade.....but you should think about this.

well you shouldn't be concerned about the people, but actually leaving animals in a very hot vehicle.

I'd be more concerned about others noticing the pets; even if the weather is nice. Perhaps in a retail situation might work...not sure about pet in vehicle though (due to others). Welcome Valerie!

thank you for all the concern about my cats..and believe me when I tell you I am an avid animal lover myself..i would never leave them in a car that's too hot or cold...or in a car period...that's why I was contemplating a well ventilated tent too...some place for them to at least be out of the car but not roaming about..i did watch Bobs you tube vid about workcampers being able to get jobs that are remote..thought perhaps I could make that work...but leaving them in the car is not an option

Leaving them alone in a tent is not an option.  There are stupid people out there with big aggressive dogs.  They pull into camp, and let the dogs run.

There are also coyotes that would tear through a tent in a second.

I wish I had a good solution for you.    :(

Every once and a while there are animal rescue places looking for volunteers, may they would be able to make an arrangement that would work for you if you can contact them.

First, you should be able to find a campground that is remote so you can live in a tent out of your car. Second, it's not that hard to get high enough that heat will not be an issue at all. I was a campground host at 10,500 feet outside of Leadville Colorado and your cats would be fine all summer.

But, all National Forests have an abundance of predators so they really need to be indoors in the car unless on a leash. How they will fare living in the car is something only you can know for sure.

If you could get into a minivan, you would all be much happier!

Hello Bob! Your you tube videos have been informational and inspiring. Yes my original question was about getting any tips for remote positions. I cant afford to subscribe to workcamper news..mostly ive looked on happyvagabonds in several different states, but seems like they are looking for couples and/or people who have rigs. Is there an easier way find which sites offer remote positions? Ultimately I would love to upgrade to a van, but I need to find work first. Thanks again for sharing all your insights!

Watch my workcamping video, I cover in it how to get a hosting job without joining workcamper news.

Here are other places to look for jobs, but it's getting late in the year. Check back at the end of May or beginning of June. There are openings then because people will fail to show up and some will get fired.
