Looking at the study (link to the study is in the article Cyndi linked to), they say nothing about whether toxic shock has occurred in any women using menstrual cups, only that S.a. grows on them in the lab. In the article they quote one menstrual cup manufacturer who says that the only cases (2 of them) of TSS from the use of menstrual cups happened when women had the cups inserted far longer than recommended (seven days instead of the recommended limit of 12 hours).

I'll reserve judgment until I see some epidemiological data...
 
...much like the toxic shock from using tampons. Follow the directions. Most such cases come from being absent minded. That happens of course.
