Has anybody cut the skins off there van and turn it
into a widebody?

Sounds like you're describing a class c!

Personally if I were going to do that much fabrication on a body, I think I would start with a truck and end up with a 4x4 go-anywhere-home.

I could be wrong but I think it is a class B if it is on the van frame. I think so.........

Class Cs are built on van or truck frames.

Class B: Van with original body, but has appliances and/or high top.

Class C: (van or truck) not original body, has been built wider or replaced entirely

Class B+: Something sort of made up so that manufacturers can call their C a B

This is one of those things people like to argue about every time it comes up. Let's next determine which is empirically better: Coke or Pepsi.

The above is my understanding, anyway.

Let's see. Given those two choices, I'll take Dr. Pepper.

Back on topic though, regardless of whether you start with a van or truck chassis, if you opt to build it into a wide body, you'll be looking at significant investment in both time and money, even if you have all the necessary skills to do all the work yourself.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I would think you'd have an easier time starting with a box truck or retired type 3 or medium duty ambulance that's been gutted.

Depending on what you replace the cutoff part with, it could look like this.

This is the way I now understand it as well. I once thought there were wide body class B's because a seller had his listed that way. Someone told me I was wrong, so I researched it in depth, only to find I was wrong.  :-/

I'm talking about making it likd the Dodge Explorer van .

It looks exactly like a regular van but right
behind the cab it tapers out slowly were you hardly notice but
the most rear section Is probably 10--- 15 inches wider.
It has dual rear wheels though.
It doesn't look like a box van at all

Like this?

Or the really wide ones that come out at 90 degree.

I disagree.

Years (decades?) ago, there was a company that made ambulances by adding about a foot to the entire width of vans, nose to tail.

I think the B+ moniker lets people know that it is not a classic Class C.  A B+ is wider than a standard B, but a B+ is narrower than a Class C.  If I am talking to you and I say I have a Class C, you would automatically assume that I have a classic Class C.  If I say I have a Class B+, you have a pretty good idea that mine is a van with a little wider body on it.  Splitting hairs?  Yea, but it always gets the idea across of almost exactly what it is.

My $0.02 worth even with inflation.

I know exactly what you are talking about, I almost bought one. Where the body flairs out is where they added the fiberglass body on the cut away van. They are pretty slick too. I would have bought it had the sellers story about title etc. not been so flaky.

Are you talking about the Dodge B 300 series wide body Vans ?

I've only seen a couple of them.  One was an EMS ambulance like the photos above and one was a
Class C RV.   They are strange to look at.
