Believe it or not we love the rain so much that's going to be one of the goals on our first trip. I grew up in a place where you would get all day drizzle, but currently live in a swampy area where the rain only comes in 15 minute downpours or hours-long violent thunderstorms. I'm looking quite forward to listening to the rain on the roof of our van and sleeping like I'm in a coma.
I'll admit, that I too sleep much better if it's raining...
...but I now live on the Oregon coastline...where it rains ALL THE TIME!!
The winters here are very dark and rainy. Granted, I don't hafta shovel my driveway anymore...but the rain and cold gets into your bones and gets really hard to shake off. It really shows in peoples attitude too.
I lived in Seattle for a good long while and I agree with Patrick, the cold gets in your bones. When it rains for days I get grumpy, but the pitter patter of raindrops puts me right to sleep, which is nice.
We're planning a trip to the PACNW to see an artist cousin of her's, but for the most part my southern blood will only tolerate so much cold. Living there would test the limits of my love of rain.
