I bought these water containers for travel & my home :

I dont like the cheap plastic you get @ regular stores

Look for the ones with the wide mouth.

That you can put your whole hand / arm into.
But I think they're a lot more expensive

I know I should get one or two of those for back up water supply. BUT... the things weigh 40 pounds full. Would not be easy for me to lift and move around the van.

I reuse the flat juice gallon type containers for every day use.

We bought a 5 gal food grade "cube" with wide mouth for 5$ yesterday. We have plenty of drinking water...this one is for utility/shower.
The upright ones, I like the footprint. Two take the same space as the 1 cube.
Hey, the cube was cheap tho ;)

I use the 7 gallon ones, 50+ pounds full.  I use a luggage style fold up hand truck to transport them to and from the van.  Once in the van, they never move, I just stick a hose in them to get the water to wherever I want it.

I have one of these, and also a Scepter yellow diesel container. Probably about as good a container as you can buy off the shelf, but not cheap. On the other hand, the cheaper Reliance containers have to be periodically replaced due to leaks, not to mention the hassle of water leaking all over your stuff, so in the long run I think they're worth it.

I did buy one of the big blue 7 gallon water containers, but like it has been said they are H..E..A..V..Y when full....I think I'll look for a set of smaller 2.5 gallon ones...On my next build.

I have two of the 7 gallon ones and they are about 50 Lbs when full.  The one in the Roadtrek rides on its' side ready to dispense water into a 1 gallon water jug.  We have a plastic box with a drawer in the front (for shoes) behind the drivers seat and the 7 gallon one sits on that ready to stick the gallon jug under for refill.  I used shelf liner between them to keep it from sliding and it works very well.  The other one stays in the toad and is our emergency water when we are in it.  When the one in the Roadtrek is about empty, they swap places and the one in the toad gets refilled.  I don't know how accurate those 5 gallon for a $1 fill places are, but the extra room let's me take all I paid for and I don't run the water to empty in them.
