Hi everybody! I found this site a couple of months ago and joined yesterday.
Have enjoyed reading all the posts and aim to help when I can.
I have spent 14 years on the road w/my 23' class C motorhome and absolutely loved it.
Family matters pulled me back off the road but am getting my RV prepared for round two when the time comes.
My interests include Solar, building things, (I was a contractor for 36 years)traveling, and meeting people.
I got to tell you all that I have never met a nicer bunch of people than RVers of all stripes and hope to meet you soon!
Learned something when I first started RVing. If you ever want company just open your hood and usually w/in minutes a RVer will be there asking if you need help. It got to the point that I would just open it to meet people. Always worked!

Happy trails everybody!

DC Fuse, Welcome to the forum. Your experience will be appreciated.:)

Hiya DC!!

What part of the country is home for yas? Any kids or pets?? How 'bout hobbies??

Yep...I'm quite sure your background will be a big + on this board!!!

14 years huh? I'll bet you've got some 'interesting' stories you could share!! :D
(you autta post some)

Welcome from the Oregon Coastline!!

Thanks all. I am in Tampa bay area right now. Will be for awhile.
I'm blissfully single. I have a 34 year old Parrot named Stinger. He's a Cockatoo.
My hobby is spending time to improve my RV. I'm currently going over the whole thing.
Originally from Minnesota but when I bought my RV I headed West to Wa. and in time wandered so. down I5 to Ca.
Sometimes it seems a curse but I'm one of them guys who can fix most anything.
I'm 57 years old and I gotta tell you their is no earthly reason why I'm still here as I have over 5' of scars on me from Lifes bumps and a couple of surgeries that should have taken me.Who knows.
I've lurked here awhile and it seems some of the noobs to this lifestyle insist on making things overly complicated for themselves or try to get by on the cheap. This will come back to haunt you.
In my time besides my RV I have built from the ground up two cars. A 1938 two door coupe and a 1929 Ford sedan. Good times!
I invite anybody to ask questions concerning their buildout and would personally help you no charge (just throw me a sammich every once in a while) if I run into you.I enjoy doing that kind of stuff so w/my experience i'm able to do most things much quicker than some.
Oregon coast you say? Now I'm getting all wispy!HaHaHa
Happy Trails!

DC Fuse, welcome to the boards, but sounds like you've been lurking a lot longer than I have so maybe our rolls should be reversed, lol. I agree whole-heartedly with Patrick, with all your experiences you've aquired a wealth of knowledge which should make you a great fit here . I've got a bit of construction and diy experience, but am a fish out of water when it comes to RV's and automotive work (changing oil and spark plugs are about it, lol) so look forward to picking your brain from time to time, if you don't mind that is ;?D

Anything I can help you with I am most happy to do. My lurking since May/June told me there are alot of knowledgeable people here so..................................... ask away!
Somebody here will have the answer. Always glad to help!

People ask me why I have six of each tool. I tell them because their is four corners and two middles to my garage. HaHaHaHa.

Now if I could only find my six 1/2" and six 9/16 sockets!!!

Happy Trails!

Fearnoevil, I wanted to offer some encouragement to you on the issue of RV systems. Always measure twice-cut once. Plan carefully. When you get frustrated and maybe can't quite get it let it go for the day and you may find your next attempt everything just falls into place leaving you wondering why you had problems. Approach your projects w/confidence and soon you'll be doing things at expert level. Plus it's not brain surgery. I actually enjoy it.

Again, I will attempt to help any way I can.

Uh-oh....now you done it!!!

I need to see pics of the 1938 two door coupe, and the 1929 Ford sedan!

I'm a graphics guy (hand lettering, traditional pinstriping, hairbrushing, gold and silver leaf...all that kinda stuff)...but I also build lots of choppers, and the occasional hot-rod too. My favorite is bikes, but I'm into anything with wheels and engines. (Yes...a complete Motorhead!) :p

I built my wife a gorgeous '72 Camaro SS,
and here's my old 1950 Chebby Panel Shop Truck...

I'm now building a slammed 1-ton hot-rod Peterbilt, complete with a sleeper and a 5th wheel tow package! (yeah.....I've got issues!!)

and I'm leaving on Friday for Sturgis, riding my 100.3 ci FatVo chopper Frankenstein...

Hey Patrick, That Pete you're building rocks! Thought of doing one myself. Just read tonite that you do Graphics - I'm gonna need that done. (airbrushing) You do murals? Got three areas I need done. What would mural work cost? Areas are 2wx6l, 4wx5l, 3wx4l.(I took out windows)
Pleasure meeting you and i'll look for 'ya.
I'll be in your area again one day. You 'Da Man!
Be safe out there scootin' around.

Well...THANKYOU kind sir! :D

Of course I do murals. I do just about every kind of traditional sign and hot-rod type artwork. I also do ALOT of tattoo designwork, and I'm now pushing more into fine art...which is actually partly why I'm going to Sturgis in the first place. I'll be taking loads and loads of conceptual photographs for use in future paintings. There's also a motorcycle art gallery downtown, and I'm going to find out about submitting somma my work for that too. Plus I know several of the fine artists who'll be displaying their work at the gallery...and I know a BUNCH of the pinstripers who are working in town and many of the surrounding areas too...so I'll be blasting around catching up with as many of them as I possibly can.

The pic of the Pete is over 2 years old now. I've got the doors all done, the sunvisor is all done, the fenders are all done (which were not in the pic)...it's now finally ready for paint, and.........FINAL ASSEMBLY!!!! WOO-HOO!!!! (it's been a 7 year project so far!!) :p
I have a business to run and a 'sicle I hafta to ride too, ya know! ;)

btw......where are YOUR pictures??????? :dodgy:

DC....

I really need to apologise to you, as I've just noticed how much I've been plugging up this thread with my own junk.

This is YOUR Introduction page, not mine!!!

So Please....do tell us more about your story.

What kind of RV do you have?? You mention you like building stuff...so what kind of mods have you done to it?? Woodwork or structural??
And what about this Stinger charactor?? 34 years old?? WOW...I never knew parrots got that old.

oh...and we wanna hear some of your favorite 'road tales' too!! :D

No apology needed whatsoever Patrick. I had'nt thought you were doing anything but responding.
That pic of your Pete is my new Desktop Background.
Always liked that front clip & cab look.
Re: the parrot- he's the smallest of the 17 species and will usually live into their 40s if cared for. The bigger Parrots (Macaws) usually end up in a Will as they will live to 100 yrs. or so. All raptors like eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, etc.are a derivative of the Parrot (hooked beaks).

My RV is a older Coachman Broughm 23' long. I decided to keep it simply because Motor, tranny, brakes. radiator, etc. have less than 10,000 miles on them and since i redid the whole interior to my liking I figured any RV that, although newer, would still need updating/repairs so...............Also,their are sentimental reasons for keeping it, For instance I just repaired/repainted the exterior and a friend asked why some small dents in rear wheel well area were'nt fixed and i told him those are from the time when i was caught in a blizzard in the Siskyous and the trooper stopped me after the road was closed asking how i got here as they had closed the road. He followed me out and made me get chains before going further. Those chains fell off and slap-slap-slap those did those dents. I spent the next day parked on the shoulder of I-5 in the town of Weed, California. Seems for some reason the City of Weed can't keep City Limits signs posted. HaHaHaHa!

I,ve done both structural and cosmetic wood replacement. I used that 3" pine grooved on center everywhere. Nothing is as it came from the factory.
This is my third total remodel inside and this time I'm pimping it for comfort. You must have heard Bob Dylans album "Hwy 61 revisited"? This Hwy. starts in Hastings,Mn. and goes North to Thunder Bay, Ontario. I bought my RV many moons ago in Hastings from a dealer who tried to sell me something newer/more expensive and finally said "well, I got this POS out back" and as soon as I saw it I said "Wrap it up, i'll take it'.

I so much want to get back on the road.
I'll stop for now as i'm getting all wispy remembering those days.
AKRVBOB states on this sites homepage to get ready for the best times of your life and he's absolutely right!

I have NEVER met a better group of people than RVers.

Here's a story for 'ya - I was on I-5 southbound in the Siskyous behind a tractor/trailer. It was windy that day w/high elevation when i saw a sign that warned semis, trucks, rvs that YOU WILL,not maybe, YOU WILL be blown over. Proceed w/caution.
Suddenly that semi was on its side sliding down the road. I watched in horror for the drivers safety. It finally stopped as did I. Checking on the driver he was crawling out passenger door. A little shook up.I called 911 for him and waited 'til they arrived. Driver and Troopers/EMT thanked me before i drove away.
