Vets can shop online at Army, Air Force, Navy Exchanges

Good morning to all,
Cool thing of the day: beginning on Veterans Day, all vets will be able to shop online at the exchanges. That means you get the prices and no sales tax that, prior to this, was mostly limited to active duty, Reserve duty and retirees. They are doing this to compete with Amazon and also because of the reduced patronage with smaller numbers in the military.

This could be helpful to all you vets our there to save a little money on stuff.

I think it's a good thing too. I take a couple of my kids to the commissary and while the prices are just a bit lower on many things, the no tax is nice. I think it will be a good thing.

Hmm, this might make a few things easier for me. The local PX doesn't have much in stock I'd need but ordering could save a fair bit if the shipping costs don't kill the pricing.

How will they verify you are a veteran if you were honorably discharged but not retired (i.e. no military ID)? Scanned copy of DD214?

I just went to the Military Times site. Here is the link about the new program.i also went to the AAFES site. You verify eligibility though an organization called vetverify.org.

I couldn't believe how easy it was. I had avoided it the first time I heard about it thinking they would need copies of "stuff", but no, just name, last 4, birthdate, branch of service and I believe email were all they asked for and in like 30 seconds, I was verified on the spot and sent an email verification.
