The Friends of Cedar Mesa is holding their annual 'Celebrate' Conference next weekend, the 3rd-4th, in Bluff Utah. This is in the relatively warm San Juan River valley, not far above Lake Powell.
Friends is the local archaeological group that did much of the local, anglo, work in support of the Bear's Ears. The inter-tribal coalition will be present as well. This great diverse group has many retired hobbyists from the region. Hikes on Sunday are full, but I'll make sure folks get a tour. $40 for the conference with lunch, $20 for the optional dinner. It should sell out the 300 person community center.
This event is a great introduction to an awesome backcountry boondocking area.

I'll be camping Tues-Thurs near Mexican Hat at the first great spot past the Navajo Rez.

I'll then spend a week heading North to Moab. It would be great to hang and/or mentor.
