Can you operate these things inside the van or do you have to take it outside or put near open side or rear doors?

I've got a Eu2000 Honda gen mounted on a metal platform on the rear of my truck camper. When it's running the noise and vibration is transferred to the frame of the camper and it is quite irritating. If possible, the generator needs to be isolated somehow from the frame of the vehicle. So far all I've done is set the gen on the ground near the rear bumper and padlock it so I can sleep while it's running.

BTW, when I had my old class c motorhome I made a homemade venturi exhaust extension out of pvc pipe and it worked fine. Saved a bunch of $$.
