I've been here a couple months.....thanks for the very warm welcome......I need to formally introduce myself........I'm Doug
Back in the 1970's I belonged to the SpaceCoast Van Club..........one of many clubs in Florida and the USA.......The "Truck-Ins" that were hosted in Florida ALWAYS had water/electric and CLEAN restrooms............we would rent the entire campground for the weekend event and pack it with vanners
Other state/national truck-ins were held at fairground or fields with little or no amenities........when Florida vanners "complained" we were saddled with the title "2% Truckers".........we made T-shirts and wore it as a badge of honor
It was during this time I met my soulmate....Pam.......we were married and lived and loved in Orlando for the next 37 years.........She died 6 months ago with ALS (Lou Gehrig's)....I was her caregiver for the past 3-years.....I am absolutely heartbroken BUT I KNOW she is in a better place.....
So now I'm left with my decision to sell the house and move on with my life and two cats........I have a 100 yr old bungalow with a 4-car "workshop"........there's a buyer ready and waiting in-the-wings ..........As I empty the house I use the contents we have loved to construct the buildout......I don't have the Transit yet but I know the dimensions and have constructed a basic VAN interior inside the garage
The design is a fixed bed with underneath storage in the back half of the van with a Chuckwagon kitchen accessed thru the rear doors.........the front half contains a desk and sink with overhead shelves and underneath toilet cassette and litterbox ......a large upright fridge completes the driver's side
The passenger seat gets replaced by a kitty stroller......and a large desk chair on rollers completes the build
I'll add I'm not a minimalist............I'm packing a large collection of construction tools and supplies as well as cooking and camping stuff.......along with memorabilia and PHOTOS
Build photos to follow.........(when I get a DIGITAL camera) ...............to be continued doug
