Truck stop showers and women

Having put a considerable amount of time on the interstate I am impressed with the sheer amount of women driving big rigs and am sure the truck stops notice this, and am also sure any trouble with driver interaction is noticed and word of mouth will have severe consequences when revenue is at stake.
My personal take is take the truck stop shower.

I know when someone is not really wanting help, but wants someone to listen.

Meanwhile... back at the truck stop shower. For me it's the price alone that stops me. From what I see its as clean as any public shower & very location dependant.

Inside truck stops is one of the safest places for a woman alone I have found. You might get complimented or hit on depending on how you feel about a social advance but you will also find a bunch of humans who miss their homes & families and are in most part very kind.

In fact, accepting coffee & sharing your meal break with a trucker can easily get you a free shower as, as it was pointed out on another thread, truckers get shower coupons with gas and usually have spares.

Seems Health Clubs are not always so safe. A guy got stabbed in the parking lot last night of one in Chandler, AZ, in fairly good part of town. IIRC, something else happened at this one a few years ago. That said, it may not even have had anything to do with the place.

Seems Truck Stops are full of some of the most polite people in the world. Truckers are a polite bunch. The only downside to Truck stops in my experience are that sometimes there are beggars and druggies hanging out looking for a handout. I go to one in particular where I can dump my trailer and gas up the truck in the same stall, and there always seems to be this bunch of them at the picnic tables...

I'm not a woman so I can't speak for them and I know the crap guys say to them that can make them uncomfortable.......heck my gf gets comments all the time but she's literally oblivious to it. I've showered at dumpy truck stops I barely wanted to step in the shower at and others with marble baths, never felt uncomfortable at any of them. And I think if a guy meant on doing a woman harm at a truck stop, 12 others would prevent it from happening. Truckers for the most part are the salt of the earth, willing to give you the shirt off their back.

Not always.  I've experienced a few neanderthals out there that treat women like we are driving trucks to have easier access to men.  A particular truck stop in SLC just a few years ago comes to mind...

I demanded he look at my CDL so I could prove to him I wasn't a lot lizard and he still told me he was keeping an eye on me.  I couldn't sleep under those circumstances and drove to Ogden to bed down.
