Hi,

I have an F150.  I'm thinking of getting a camper cap to to keep items like a generator out of the weather and out of sight for increased security.  I'm also thinking I'll add a small bed for spending 2-3 days away from my travel trailer.  A big concern I have is the impact a cap will have on the truck's MPG.  I'm thinking of getting a cap which will not extend above or beyond the sides of the truck cab.  Does anyone know the impact of such a cap on the a truck's MPG?

Thanks.

My MPG went up slightly on the highway for the reasons gsfish gives, and down slightly in town. Ride quality and traction improved and my groceries didn't get wet in the rain. :)

I only put my cap on in the winter. I dont notice a difference in the gas mileage.

I saw more of a diference fro the heavier tires I put on the rear

I'm going to agree with the others, should likely stay the same with the possibility of increasing it. If you add ladder racks and stuff on them, then you might see a small dip. The added convenience of having one is almost priceless.

I don't know how I would ever get along without my camper top.  Like the others said improved traction, stability, keeping things dry.  I've had the same one on the last 3 pickups I've had.

Thanks everyone.  It is good to hear MPG should not decrease.  It is totally awesome that MPG may actually increase :)
