The only thing I never cared for - is the canvas type pop-up ---- but that's me -- and its on record - I don't know squat ----

I don't think it is worth a fraction of that....You can buy a way later Westie Vanagon with a water pumper engine for similar prices I think....

It is like a Harley....you aren't paying for a good motorcycle....it isn't a good motorcycle.....you are paying for a lifestyle and a myth....

I owned two VW vans, a 67 and a 74 and believe me unless you are a good little wrench twister and like to do it....you won't be a happy camper...

We used to say..."it is good that it's easy to pull a VW engine...because you have to way too often...!"

JMHO
Bri

I agree with you both... canvas pop tops are not my fav and I have heard vw's are always in need to be fixed. So I am just going to keep it as a dream and work with better resources. HuggZ

That is the truth 4x4!!

I agree---way overpriced and there are a lot better vans out there than VW.

I cant remember where i saw it, but i followed a link one time that brought me to the website of a factory thst bought, sold and completely rebuilt/reconditioned vw westys- all years and conditions. They regularly asked for and got upwsrds of $50-60K for them. If you remember some of the cheap little 2door cars of the 60's like a dodge dart, or even the amc gremlins in the 80's , you know that even a marginal vehicle that has been restored commands a high orice now. An 'iconic' vehicle will fetch a rediculous amount of money. If i were a bettin man, id say he holds out for and gets at least $20K for it. It is nice, but WAY out of my range.

-awesome statement (about Harley's, of course!)-

Same thing with all the canned ham campers of the 50s-70s especially the shastas! I was wanting to get one to rework ... even though they are small but remembered one my parent's had when I was little. Price has sky rocketed! I don't really want a pull along now but they are really too cute!

I almost choked when i saw that price

You could buy a nice domestic van, and have it setup nicely for a 1/3 of that.
Reflecting what several others have stated...

That guy's out of his bloody mind if he thinks that thing's worth
22 thousand bux! Yeah, it's a nice little bus, but geeze, GET REAL!

Worth maybe half that at most to a serious collector in a better rconomy. It's not a user.

i came super super close to buying what seems to be that identical van for 7k. haha when i saw that craigslist post the first thing i noticed was the spedo, it doesnt even go past 99,999 so how do they know it hasnt already rolled over. just an observation. those are great vans though. great looking at least

My dream van is also out of my price range... for now. It's the Mercedes Sprinter class B's... *sigh*
