Hey everyone. &nbsp;I'm Theresa from Canada. &nbsp;Yup, go ahead make the eh? jokes.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>I have been wanting to live in an rv for quite a few years now. &nbsp; My idea has changed from an rv to a minivan since they are smaller to drive, less on gas and lower in price. &nbsp; All around good reasons for the switch. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>I am currently looking for my van and I am so excited. &nbsp;I am really hoping this will be the time for me to do this. &nbsp; It is the perfect time of the year to start out. &nbsp;Enjoying the lovely summer up here in Canada and then down south for the winter.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Right now I'm a newbie and will be asking plenty of questions. &nbsp;I can see already that everyone is so helpful and just awesome. &nbsp; What a lovely community and can't wait till I can give back once I'm more seasoned.</div>

<div><br></div><div>Hi Theresa and Welcome. No worries as we're not <i>aboot</i> to make fun of you for being Canadian.</div><div><br></div>

Welcome Theresa <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"> &nbsp;Where about in Canada are you from? I'm in Calgary and looking/hoping to go full-time in my Dodge Get-Away Van sometime this summer.<div><br></div><div>Advice: If you're looking into a mini-van kind of lifestyle, stay away from the older Ford Windstars. Terrible, unreliable vehicles. My professional advice (I'm a mechanic). Or if you find a Toyota Town Ace (or Hi-Ace), they are quite liveable (they're easier to find in BC and AB). If you don't mind right-hand drive and diesel, they'd be the way to go, but finding parts can sometimes be tedious and days away. Mitsubishi Delica vans are also a good option, but they are more prone to problems than the Toyotas. Dodge Caravans are okay, but easy for mechanics to get parts for (and relatively cheap).</div><div><br></div><div>Be well and good luck.</div><div><br></div>

Wow, thank you all for your welcome. &nbsp;I sure do feel welcomed here. &nbsp;Everyone is so helpful and nice. &nbsp;I certainly do appreciate it. &nbsp;<div><br></div><div>Captain Logos - &nbsp;I actually just posted asking about what mini van to pick. &nbsp;I have been really wanting to get going but stalling because I just can't seem to pick because I know nothing when it comes to mechanical thingamabobs. &nbsp;Thank you for your advice. &nbsp;I was looking at a Ford Winstar so very glad to know to stay away. &nbsp;I haven't seen any Toyota or Mitsubishi for sale since I've started looking but a good amount of Dodge Caravans. &nbsp;I like that they have the cheaper parts. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Ha Ha sl1966, after my time in the states working on Carnival Cruise Lines my mom actually caught me saying ruff instead of roof. &nbsp;<br><div><br></div></div>

Oh I forgot to say, I'm from the west coast, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island.

Welcome from New Mexico. We have a great member up there who is quite the craftsman. Recently built a Romany vardo and just finished a ultralight teardrop trailer to pull with a tiny car....<br>Watch for Sandy St.L on here....<br>Bri<br>

I agree where I live is beautiful and has so much to offer for boondocking. Did anyone know that there is free campsite in B.C. as well just like in the U.S.?<div><br></div><div>If you are interested here is the site &nbsp;<a href="http://www.sitesandtrailsbc.ca/" target="_blank">http://www.sitesandtrailsbc.ca/</a>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Unfortunately the weather isn't to my liking in the winter and that's why I would head south. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks for the welcome.</div>

I didn't know this Theresa and I am riding my sidecar rig up there in a week or two so this helps greatly....thank you...<br>Bri<br>

You are making the trip from New Mexico all the way up here in a week or two, wow. &nbsp;Sounds like a nice ride! &nbsp;Enjoy. &nbsp; The weather is getting good here. &nbsp;Sun with a nice spring breeze but a few rainy days between since it is the west coast after all.

<div><br></div><div>I know and love Vancouver BC! I have family there still and vacationed there a lot. The two most memorable ones for me was the Expo in 86 and one where me and a bunch of friends camped all the way up and down the western coast.</div><div><br></div>

Hi and welcome to the forum. Ya, rough cold upstate Ny winters prompted me to move to north Alabama! Questions? Ask away!

<p style="margin: 0px;">Welcome Theresa...glad to have you here...eh!</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">Rae</p>

<p>Welcome aboard!&nbsp; I'm new too, and just in the process of downsizing from a C-class to a&nbsp; minivan.&nbsp; It'll be fun to see how we progress!</p>

Welcome, Theresa! There are at least a couple of us up here in Washington State, so you have neighbors at least. Me, I'm a little north of Seattle. Just a couple hours away from you. :)&nbsp;<div><br></div>

<br><br>LOL, I must have said that wrong. I am already in Durango, CO spending some time with my wife at our place here and then will leave for the north in about 1 1/2 weeks or so.<br><br>I am thinking it will take me a couple weeks to get north to Bremerton where I will spend a week with my son and family. I will be on V Island during the first part of June I think....<br><br>Other than the last week in June I don't have much of a plan until the 19th of&nbsp; July when I will be in northern ID.<br><br>My Canadian ins. card is only good from the 15th to the 15th.<br><br>I just found out about a great little taco wagon in Tofino so that is a must.<br><br>Good to know the weather is getting better....I am camping so good weather is really nice.<br><br>Have a great summer...<br>bri<br>

<p style="margin: 0px;">Welcome!&nbsp; It's good to have you here!</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">V.T.</p>

Tofino is amazing but I don't think you will find easily places to camp for free there. &nbsp; That place has gone commercial. &nbsp;I lived there during it's hippy stage before big business started to buy up the land. &nbsp; It used to have a huge free camp area that all the transients lived in since it's easy to find work there in the summer but hard to find a place to stay. &nbsp;<div><br></div><div>If you know of a place to boondock with no problems fill me in and I will be there. &nbsp;I would love to spend sometime in Tofino. &nbsp;I'm in the town that you need to pass through to get there. &nbsp;About an hour and a half away. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Hey Lucy; If I get my van. hehe. I will be heading down to boondock in your area on my slow journey to quartzsite. &nbsp;Do you have any plans this summer for camping?&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>Oh btw, I found a really cool documentary done by BBC on American Nomads on youtube and it covers Quartzsite and the Slabs as well as other nomads that don't travel in a vehicle. &nbsp;Very interesting. &nbsp;<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&amp;feature=endscreen&amp;v=WzSQvamSfa4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&amp;feature=endscreen&amp;v=WzSQvamSfa4</a></div><div><br></div><div>Hi V.T. thanks for the welcome.</div><div><br></div><div>Hi Khaly, you are downsizing? How long were you on the road with your class C?</div><div><br></div><div>Hi Yesican, *grumbles about the eh then smiles* thank you for your welcome.</div><div><br></div><div>Hi Les, thanks for the welcome and appreciate your offer to answer some questions. &nbsp;</div><div>Sl1966, I went to Expo 86 as well. &nbsp; It was amazing but crowded. &nbsp;I've always wanted to see all of Vancouver Island by camping. &nbsp;Sounds like your trip on the west coast was memorable. &nbsp; It's naturally beautiful here. &nbsp;Hope you make the trip again when you have moved into your van.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
