had to have a pro replace my transmission last month as my 3rd and 4th gear took a dump on my Gm 4L60e transmission (145K miles)
Took the old fella out for a for a test  drive and smelt burning anti freeze...new water pump time and might as well flush and replace hoses and the belt...dang I forgot how expensive Gates serpentine belts are.

Tomorrow is oil change day and may tackle the fuel filter.

Then I guess I can start packing ...

What are you all dealing with?

Much better to address those issues at your convenience than somewhere on the side of the road.

Good job.

Exactly so I was hoping for some other ideas from those more experienced and maybe some travel tool bag  and spare parts info that you all travel with.

If you change the pump you may have to prime the pump on that gm van I had to pour a gallon down the top hose the pump would not pull antifeeeze from radiator into engine block or would not flow from top of radiator in too engine block.

Finish my ebike rack and resupply but I am very grateful to have the ebike that it's like playtime building the rack. :D

Filters and fluids should do it.

Has the rearend gear oil been changed lately?

Are you towing or heavily laden? Doing mountains? Might think about an add-on tranny cooler to protect that rebuild.

If you replace the serpentine, keep the old one as a spare.

Are you building a custom rack or can you use. A regular bike rack?

I would love to get an E trials bike.

i have a spare tire bike rack and 30 year old Raleigh mountain bike but I should probably check the plastic buckles  and clips on that bike rack as well
thank you

It's a DIY guideded mostly by my imagination. Mine is a Radmini fat tire. More on the link in my signature

Had the van serviced. The antenna fell off somewhere in cali, if you see it pick it up for me pls & thx.  Also a must do is to avoid all the speed traps in cali.  -crofter

Very nice set up you have and the E bike looks rugged as well.

Most of my stuff is overbuildt, though.

Yeah much better than under built like the GM 4L60E transmissions they installed in most GM pick ups, vans and SUV’s which they mated to one of the best engines ever built in the GM 350

I am headed to CA post RTR, I will keep a look out for smokies and that antenna and if by chance you happen on a tool roll off 70 near Green River Utah pick it up and let me know. I really miss that SK set of wrenches.

Travilin man and wife, sorry for the delay but was not able to get back to the van until this morning.

First thing I noticed was that the new fluid in the radiator was not visible.

I added another  1.5 liters
reinstalled the cap and fired her up.

she worked as expected .
the only thing I can imagine is that the system burped while it was cooling down from my first attempt to run it.
i did noting but add fluid a couple more times ...about 2.5 liters total
