Well, I finally did it! I bought a giant of a Van today and if all goes well I pick up the tow behind pop up tomorrow. I have been selling on eBay and selling on Craigslist and getting rid of tons of stuff I can surely live without. I guess I have reached the point of no return and I am so looking forward to my love of photography and chasing Hummingbirds and learning what I can to live a simpler more focused life in the midst of like minded people. Hooray!

Thank you all for your encouragement and helpful information to get started!

RTR or BUST!

Awesome. It'll be my first RTR too. There will be quite a few of us newbies there. We'll have to setup our own greenhorn district.i wish you the best on your new home

Welcome to the forum. Like you I look forward to being able to do my photography on a whim.

Welcome and looking forward to those hummingbird pictures :)

Welcome to the tribe. Hummingbirds are amazing. One year I didn't put the feeder in the same place and they would show up where it used to be and be like WTF it was here last year.DSC00776.jpg

Welcome!
You will have tons of storage with that combo of rigs. I always find Pinterest posts of how to organize a pop up to be innovative, since you have to be able to organize everything below the pop-up level to travel.

You do plan on using your photo skills to show us your set up as you get it ready, right? For those of us who cannot make it to RTR? LOL

Congratulations!
I remember the excitement building, when more and more of my stuff got sold or rehomed.....lighter and lighter...
Instead of downsizing into a smaller place until I was ready to live in the RV, we downsized into the RV right away and lived in it
several months, while wrapping stuff up at work.
Keep the momentum going!!!

Thank you for your note. I have discovered that there are 13 different Hummingbird species that spend time in Arizona.

This one sits outside my window on a zip tie next to the feeder. (Port Orchard WA)

In order to get out of here alive I may have to figure out my rig and sort out my stuff once in Arizona. I do have a gimbal on the way and hope to record as much as possible. Time is getting short and the transition is a big one for me but "the only man that never failed is the man that never tried" so I plan to leave Washington State Jan, 1 ready or not. Thank you all for the continued encouragement!

Well, I made it to RTR and learned a great deal and met many helpful friendly people. Being brand new to full time rving and crazy enough to bring a tent trailer to the desert I survived quite well.

One thing that I never found help with and why I haven't posted further is no internet connection and no good source of information about where and how to get it. I found one person who was talked about as knowledgable but I gave up after trying multiple times to meet with him with no reciprocation.

I finally had to go it on my own and take a stab in the dark and cough up $280 to buy a jet pack and start a plan that is with Verizon (through a private vendor) giving me 100gb a month for $120, I can increase to 200gb for another $20 during any month. I'm in Eherberg now and will have an excess for a while if anyone needs some extra bandwidth.

Most people don't need that much bandwidth but I use a lot and arrived in Quartzsite with T-Mobile and 20gb of unusable data as T-mobile data does not work there. It's a big hit to the budget but being connected while being remote is essential to me so I'll make it work.

I'm excited about being out and living today instead of perpetually planning. My stress level has gone down immensely.

Today if I can figure out where to have things shipped to, now that I have internet, I can order my solar.

Many thanks to Bob Wells and all those who have help guide me (as a total rookie) to living full time on the road.

I have lots to learn but have the basics down giving time to figure out the rest. ;-)
