ahhhh yes...I miss the old heart shaped windows!

the old van craze is how I got into airbrushing, seeing all those Boris inspired murals.

Now, I've been a custom painter/builder for over 30 years!

Been so long I can't quite remember, but my first van was a (65 or 66) Chevy. I bought it from a surfer in Calif who was headed to the Islands.
At first it felt odd sitting right over the front wheels with only a little sheet metal protecting my feet/legs....the view was groovy tho. Other than what came from the factory up front, it was empty, I slept on the floor, and cooked on a camp stove outside.. Had it 2 yrs and it looked the same inside the day I sold it. Sure had a lot of fun in that thing.
It was just what I needed for touring after I returned from Viet Nam and I could see a future for these cool little trucks. Little did I know the van would actually become home for so many people.

My first van was a 63 Ford Econoline, 6cyl, three on the tree, air shocks and M50 15 tires on Mag wheels.
I lived on a street that came down a hill with a steep slope at the end where the stop sign was.
The first time one of my buddies rode with me he almost stuck his feet through the windshield thinking the van was going to endo..... :)

I remember the van crazy.. Kinda. I was a little kid. I'm noticing a small yet growing resurgence of the van movement here in Norcal.

Hey Mr. Noodly...was that your van?? (and your lady friend??)

my first was a '72 Econoline back in '81. No pictures, but it was a pretty good rig. Unfortunately, I traded it away for a car than ran like crap!! (why do we do stuff like that anyways????) :p
