Hey all! I've posted in the forums before under my old account, Kitt, but i no longer 1) go by that name and 2) have access to that account. So here i am! I'll be posting this in the "Van" thread as well.

But here's what is going on. I was saving to rent a place out in Las Vegas with my cousin, who already lives out there. But for reasons I'd prefer not to get into, that may not work out because I would have to pay all the initial costs myself. (deposit, first and last months rent, whatever fees i need to pay to turn on the utilities, furnishings etc.) and i cannot afford to pay all of that by myself, although rent is cheap out there. I can't stay in California, it is extremely expensive out here. My original plan was to move into a van or a Subaru Outback to live in. While i can still do that, and stay in California, it's time for me to be out on my own. I'm 21 and still live at home with my mom. I currently work 40+ hours a week at $11 an hour, but for many reasons, my health being foremost, I cannot stay there much longer. I'm trying to pick up a part time job at Michaels, and wherever i move to, I could likely be rehired at Starbucks. (worked there almost 2 years, left in July on good terms, eligible for rehire in October).

I'm open to a van or a smaller vehicle, I have a friend who lives in her prius with her service dog. If i go smaller, I'd likely get a Subaru Outback, preferably a 2007 or newer. I'd prefer something I don't have to make payments on, but i will if necessary. It will eventually be me and my service dog prospect.

Now to the meat of my question. If I'm going to be paying to move out on my own, I want to move someplace where I want to live (definitely not vegas!!). My mom won't talk to me about it, she just says that i have to make my own mistakes, and it's obvious reality hasn't hit me yet (because im open to living in a van, which has been my plan since i was 17).

I'd stay in california while building out my vehicle, and possibly hang around a bit longer while i get a feel for it. But after that, I want to move to Colorado. I've been out there before and fell absolutely in love. I'd likely visit the cities i want to move to, prior to moving there, with my rig, to get a feel for it down there. I'm currently looking at Colorado Springs area.

But just any words of advice, knowledge, anything? Is this an idiotic back-up plan for in case my cousin doesn't get his **** together and I can't go out there?

I'm open to anything y'all have to say on it.
