This year I've been focused on downsizing at my homebase ... but, every once in a while, my feet get a powerful itchin' and I've got to do something to soothe.

So, this past weekend I went to Mount Rainier National Park in my Prius RV. Last year I got there too late in the season to camp at the White River Campground. So, that's where I was headed. It's a truly beautiful, magical place.

Besides being the Autumnal Equinox on Friday, I choose this weekend because Saturday was National Public Lands Day with free entrance into the park. What a deal!

Finally, I found out that people were being asked to volunteer on Saturday to either help do trail maintenance or meadow re-vegetation. I chose to do re-vegetation of the old Sunrise Campground.

What a beautiful place to do gardening! I had no idea that it was such exacting work. I was one tired puppy last night.

Here are a few pics (more on my blog) ...

View of Mount Rainier from the road up to Sunrise.

Once re-vegetated, the foreground meadow will look like the background.
