I know folks are not allowed to sleep in rented storage units, but can you live in one by day?

Could you set up the storage shed like a living room, live in it by day, then leave to sleep in your RV/vehicle at night? If the rent on the storage unit is low, it would be cheaper than an apartment.

I don't want to do this, but I've seen threads on other sites asking about living in a storage unit. I thought sleeping in a vehicle, but living in a rented storage unit by day might work for them. What are the rules about how often and how long you can hang out in your rented storage unit?

I seem to have read this somewhere also. I think my biggest concern is that unless it is climate controlled, it would be SCREAMIN' hot in there in the heat of the summer day. Most are made of metal, and, well, if you are hanging out on a sofa with the door wide open, it pretty much blows your cover. Along the same lines, a lot of them have cameras and gates, that record when you come and go. Might look odd to be there for 7-8 hrs. It's not all bad, my wife and I rented a 10x20, no power, no gate etc, in north Georgia for $40/month. So not bad as far as rent. Course, if you don't pay the rent, they may auction YOU off!<img src="/images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle">
