Good morning, everybody :)

I'm originally from New York City, but I currently reside in Southern California.  I'm looking to purchase a not-too-expensive stealth camper van, with decent fuel mileage, that can be used part-time during the winter back home. I would prefer a used van to keep costs down.  I work a lot and don't have a lot of free time, thus I don't want to DIY my own stealth camper conversion.  Thus far, I've read about camper van conversions by and/or contacted:

Caravan Outfitter
Cascade Campers
Contravans

Down by the River Vans
Recon Campers
VanLife Customs
Wayfarer.

Among these, it looks like the least expensive conversion/kit (not including the cost of the van) is by Wayfarer at $4,696.  VanLife Customs seems to have the most expensive conversions, from this list.

What do you recommend?  Which stealth camper (available in the US) gives the most bang for the buck?  (Please don't answer "DIY".  See my comment above.  And please don't reply with a van that isn't available in the US.) Thanks in advance.

Semper fidelis,

Welcome to the CRVL forums Frank! Most of our members fit in the do-it-yourself category so we don't have much experience with any of these companies, however, you've complied a good list that may be helpful to other people. Since new members are not permitted to include links I'm going to add them below.
From my quick review, it appears that you get what you pay for. The simplest are the least expensive and the most elaborate are the most expensive. I would choose Cascade Campers.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.   We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome! You forgot two of the most famous and arguably best outfitters, PleasureWay and (my favorite) Roadtrek. All different builds with their strengths and weaknesses. You have to figure out what works for you. I know I can't make the decision for someone else.

If a stealth conversion van exists, it must work well. I don't recall seeing any Class B that could be considered stealthy.
