am i looking at what i think i'm looking at?

dang that thing has a supercharger on it. a header too. did you talk to the owner? kinda priced high. highdesertranger

cars with performance mods can be a very good deal, or a very bad one, be careful
And yep, kinda overpriced IMO, I think he's trying to get the cost of the mods out of it (or his wife is pressuring him to sell and he don't wanna)

no,i was looking at this https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/5624190383.html
but didnt recognize the engine so i was looking at others and come across the blown toyota, turns out its a 1200cc and i dont want that
just missed out on a nice looking 69 volvo 144 for $850,just trying to find something not rotten and not lowered, celica hatchbacks and datsun 510 are spendy, kia at 150k with stock clutch and head gasket getting ready and do not want to work on a 03 kia so if i can find something late 60's-70's and fix it,it should be my forever 4 banger

I had a 510 and lots of parts have become impossible to find like lower ball joints and had to search and pay high dollar just for brake pads but many just did complete Z car swaps so they could find parts a little longer. Be very careful about buying even if parts are available now as in a very short time they can not be had. Old air cooled VW's still have most parts available but quality and cost are questionable. Many older Toyota and Honda cars can be updated with newer more available drive train componets. Suzuki parts are quickly becoming scarce but are still cheap.

if you want a vehicle that will have parts available for a long time. you need to go with a chevy truck 67-91 every nut and bolt is available and the drive train with it's popularity in so many conversions, these parts will be available for a long, long time. just check it out there is a conversion to put a 350 engine and t-400 trans and a 14 bolt rear end in almost every vehicle, not to mention a chevy dana 60 in 4 wheel drives. highdesertranger

That is good news about 510 ball joints! Webber carb adaptors are a fix for many old fuel systems. Modern electric ignition systems are available from after market performance places. Toyota 4 cylinder engine went back to a timing chain instead of belt in 2002. I have to agree with HDS sometimes getting there and having parts is more important than how much gas it takes plus being able to tow and haul makes Chevy a great choice, but I'm still trying to do those things with a 4 cylinder Toyota truck but not always successful, a v8 Chevy would almost always make it easy just use a little more gas, I guess I am just stubborn about things (understatment!).

hey bullfrog stuff a v-8 in that toy. just kidding. Toyota are great trucks, only a few should be avoided. highdesertranger

I had a 1976 Big 10 (basically a 3/4 ton in a 1/2 ton suit) loved that truck, as long as you had gas to feed it, it was unstoppable
When I moved from Bastrop to Austin, i carried a Ninja 500 in the bed, with all sorts of stuff crammed in around it, while pulling a Dodge Diplomat on a trailer behind
For all the truck noticed it coud have been empty
If I still had that 'un, I'd buy or build a camper in the bed, so much roomier than anything I could put on my Ranger (that gets maybe 7 MPG better)

HDS if I get too discouraged I can always go down to my son's in Az and pick up my seven ft bed baby blue J10 360 4 speed with a Ford granny and Teraflex low geared transfer case 11 leaf rear spring 33" x 10.5 tire 10MPG 60 MPH loaded or unloaded truck but my wife won't do crank down window AC!!!
