Good morning everyone!
I'm Birdy, and my DH Jim will be along in a few days. We're counting down our final year for Jim to retire, and then we can hit the road full-time.

We both have so much to learn before that day, so we're really happy to have found this forum. We've been watching Bob on YouTube for about a year, and finally made the big decision just a few days ago.

Hopefully we'll be able to contribute to the forum. Will have to scout around and see where we might be able to help.

We're in WA, down near the OR border. Anybody else in this part of the world?

Looking forward to getting to know you all, and hopefully seeing some of you on the road pretty soon.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums   :)

It's a great place to ask questions and get good answers.

Let me suggest to you to find a copy of Bob's book "How to live in a Car, Van, or RV......" and read it through.
It can be a great "primer" and you may want to carry a copy of it with you.

Are you going to carry a Bread Making Machine too ?  LOL   :p

Birdy do you have an etsy store for your beads? I always thought it would be tons of fun to make glass beads

Birdy - I have a Paragon kiln for glass annealing (and pmc) ... it fits nicely in a plastic container - I am trying to justify bringing it and using it when I have shore power lol!
Are you bringing your glass making equipment with you?

Hey fellow Washingtonian, I'm in the greater Seattle area. You live by the Oregon border? I want to take WA14 from west to east, see the Lewis and Clark markers along the way. I love Lewis and Clark history.

Hi, Patty! So happy to hear from another lampworker. I'm hoping to find a way to drag a streamlined version of my studio along with me on the road. We'll be full-time in whatever RV we can come up with, and I'm definitely not ready to retire from all things glassy and wonderful. I have soooo much glass-stuff - 2 kilns, a Scorpion torch, 2 oxy-cons, and have been collecting COE 104, 96, and 33 glass for over 10 years. Plus a bunch of tools, frit, presses, etc.

I'm thinking about trying to figure out a way to run a generator or something so I could at least run one oxy-con and a small kiln. Unfortunately, I make mostly large focal beads, so I can't get by with vermiculite and a crock pot until I can get to hook-ups and use the kiln to batch anneal.

Of all the things to be addicted to....I had to choose lampworking. Just not the best RV-based habit to keep fed.

Please keep in touch -- would love to compare notes with another glass-gal.

PS: The bead in my avatar is one of mine -- SS Lentil, about 1 1/2" across.

Ha! I'm going to be so loaded down with Bead-making equipment that there won't be room for Bread-making stuff! My poor Jim might be happier if I spent more time making bread, and less time sweating over a torch melting glass.

Hi, Cammalu! No, never got around to doing etsy. Was "discovered" by several jewelry makers and an awesome little bead store in the nearest larger town. Between them, they have pretty much bought up all that I can make.

Making beads is AWESOME!!! Keep in touch -- we'll be on the road full-time next year. If we end up in the same part of the boondocks, I'd be happy to show you how it's done, and let you try out my torch.

Shy??? Me???? That's such a funny thought!  Thanks for the welcome -- I won't hold back on the questions. Luckily, most of my newb questions have already been answered on the forum. I'm really enjoying digging thru the wealth of info you folks have provided.

Hi, waldenbound! We're only about 10 miles from Oregon. Give a shout if you are going to pass thru this way.

There are a bunch of forum members in your area. In fact, there are a bunch of us at a little GTG ( get-together) in Tillamook right now. Come on down!

Rats!!! Got busy helping an elderly friend get moved into an assisted living place. She needed somebody to take care of her 40-year accumulation of stuff and have a yard sale for her. Since I'm still on crutches from breaking my leg and hip, it was quite the comical event. Would MUCH rather have been in Tillamook. Thanks for the invite - maybe next year?
